HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-11-21-GCC-min Greenways Corridor Committee November 21, 2019 Hudson Room, Cary Hall Lexington, Massachusetts Members Present: Mal Crawford, Alex Dohan, Peggy Enders, Eileen Entin, Don Grant, Bob Hausslein, Susan Kenyon, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski Other Attendees: Mark Sandeen, Select Board liaison Votes: Meeting minutes of September 19, 2019: Approved Reports/Updates: • Presentation to Select Board went well on October 21. Unfortunately Jim Malloy, Town Man- ager, missed the presentation due to a conflict (but he can watch it on LexMedia if so in- clined). Keith will schedule a meeting directly with him, and include Susan, Mark Sandeen, Phil Hamilton, and Carol Kowalski. • The Bridge School boardwalk is getting done. Mike had photos, and Mal gave a report. • Work on the Jefferson Drive - Bob, Mike, & Keith flagged the rest of the trail, beyond what the developer is responsible for. Permitting will go forward in both Lexington and Burlington. Conversation followed about potential trail work on currently labeled Route 4 and Route 5. • Beaver Brook North-Brookhaven trail - will connect to the Western Greenway when com- pleted. Need surveying, to apply for permit for building in wetland areas. How much funding needed is unclear - need money for survey, for bridge materials, for NOI filing. RTP may give some funding, Brookhaven Nature Path Committee will fund access. Will have informal con- versation with ConCom to gauge work needed. • Keith will go to next convenient Recreation Committee meeting to find out about new GCC liaison. Current Business: • Route M - out Blossomcrest from Bowman, to Hayden Woods - will connect to Route H, Route B, and Route L. Conversation about how many loops/routes can overlap. Will be about 3 miles, can go in ground in Spring. New Business: • Meetings will continue on 3rd Thursday, 4:30-6pm • Report on Swamminland (Peggy) - Bob Rotberg is a trustee of the Swamminland. Keith, Peggy, & Mike will walk with Bob Rotberg to view and consider trail options. It is near Juniper Hill and Five Fields. •West Lexington Greenway recap (Peggy) - some cyclists who commute on Hartwell Ave are interested in alternate routes. Relevant to this is that Town Meeting agreed to fund a 25% de- sign for a transportation project on Hartwell Ave. An advisory committee is being formed. Pending Items: • Community Connector/Upper Vine Brook Site Report • Re-establish trail access on Cambridge Watershed land, Lincoln St to Cranberry Hill • Brochure redesign task group Next Meeting: December 19, 2019, 4:30-6:OOpm, Hudson Room, Cary Hall Future meeting dates: Third Thursdays, beginning in January Respectfully Submitted by Alexandra Dohan, Secretary
