Minutes of August 21, 2019 were reviewed. In a motion duly made and seconded, the minutes were approved with revisions. The board reviewed the Community Health Report; Fall Flu clinic Planning- This first two flu clinics of the season, which will be open to those residents 60 years of age and older have been scheduled. Trivalent Fluad vaccine (licensed for use in 65 years and older) and quadrivalent Flucelvax vaccine will be available at these clinics. The first will be held, Wednesday, October 2nd: 10:00am-1:OOpm at St Brigid's Keilty Hall. The second will be held, Tuesday, October 15d' : 10:00am— 11:30am at the Museum of Scottish Rite (part of Brookhaven Health Faire).Future family-style flu clinics are being planned, including a Saturday, October 26h EDS-style clinic at LPS Central Offices gym and school-based clinic at Lexington High School Media Room on Wednesday, December 4h, 2019. MRC Stop the Bleed Training- On Wednesday, September 25h from 6pm to Bpm in the Parker Room in Town Hall, LOPH will host a Stop the Bleed training for local MRC volunteers. LOPH also hopes that this will serve as an opportunity to recruit more active MRC volunteers with the assistance of the Regional MRC Coordinator, who will be onsite for the event. Thanks to the town Public Information Officer promotion of this event, we have reached capacity for attendees. The Stop the Bleed training aims to educate lay individuals in how to respond to traumatic injuries (such as those seen in the Boston Marathon bombing) using tourniquets and wound packing until professional EMS help can arrive. LOPH has individual Stop the Bleed kits, acquired from the Region which will be distributed to attendees at the training. Medical Waste Event- On Wednesday, October 2nd from 5:OOpm to 7:OOpm, LOPH was host its final Medical Waste collection event of 2019 in collaboration with United Medical Waste and Department of Public Works, Environmental Services. As always, the Sharps drop-off kiosk and Medication drop-off kiosk remain operational and open to residents 24 hours a day at the rear entry to the Town Offices Building. Environmental Health report was reviewed and the following cases were discussed; Lexington Farmer's Market; On 9/10/19 the Health Agent inspected the entire Farmer's Market. 14 Vendors were present for the inspection. All vendors passed their inspection, with the exception of one vendor lacking an internal thermometer in the chicken fridge. Bulpan Grill and Lounge;Continues to remain under contract with a Food Safety Consultant. Audit reports are received bi-weekly (See August 21, 2019 meeting minutes for more detail) Little India Update; The establishment remains closed at this time, however, the new owner has submitted a food plan review application and new permit application. The new food plan review is in progress at this time (See June 12, 2019 meeting minutes for more detail). Dabin Restaurant; Ms. Kyung Chai, owner, Continues to remain under contract with a Food Safety Consultant. Audit reports are received bi-weekly (See June 12, 2019 meeting minutes for more detail). Love at First Bite; Has volunteered to remain under contract with a Food Safety Consultant. Audit reports are being received month(See August 21, 2019 meeting minutes for more detail). Variance Request, The Community Therapeutic Day School; Nancy Fuller, Executive Director met with the BOH to request a variance from requiring commercial-grade appliances in their kitchen which will be used to store, wash, and prepare the TCS food items they intend to provide to students. The current school kitchen does not have commercial grade equipment, including a 3-bay sink for dishwashing and/or a commercial grade dishwasher capable of reaching suitable temperature or sanitization requirements, as required under the food code. After some discussion, the request was continued TBD. Ms. Fuller will gather more information regarding common foods and their sources. Body Art Updates; Director Sasportas recently spoke at the NEHA Yankee Conference on the topic of updated national standards for Body Art. A new Body Art Model Code is expected to be published by the end of 2019. Ms. Sasportas provided the board with a copy of the PowerPoint presentation she delivered at the conference. The local regulation will be reviewed and revised to reflect the new code. The Emergency Preparedness report was reviewed and the following topics were discussed; On September 12, 2019 the Public Health Nurse attended the Region 4AB Public Health Emergency Preparedness General Coalition meeting. Region 4AB PHEP funds will be available to pay for registration and lodging costs for the Massachusetts Health Officers Association (MHOA) annual conference November 6-8h in Falmouth, provided that attendees attend Emergency Preparedness track sessions while at the conference. To qualify for funding, attendees will need to attend at least 3 EP track sessions per day, or a total of 7 sessions if attending all 3 days of the conference. Region 4AB Planner Garrett Simonsen gave an update on deliverables for those communities electing to perform Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) drills, and those communities electing to participate in Table Top Exercise (TTX) drill. Lexington has elected to participate in the regional TTX. Annual Report Discussion; The Town report is an archival document required by state law. All elected boards and all appointed committees and departments are required to make a submission. The Health Director is currently drafting the report for FYI 9, which is due the end of October. Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, motioned that the meeting be adjourned and David Geller, M.D., seconded. All were in favor. The meeting adjourned at 8:22 PM. It was noted that the next meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
