At a Town Meeting holden April 3d
a Committee was chosen to examine the South
East District School House and report at the
next Town Meeting. That Committee have
held such examination and submit the
following brief.
Report
The time appointed
for the meeting of your Committee seemed favourable,
in as much as both schools were keeping
so that they had an opportunity to observe the
pupils in their seats which appear too much crowded
for the personal convenience of either Teacher
or scholars. We think the rooms altogether
too small for the number now attending the
schools; but do not think it adviseable to alter
or enlarge the present house. Should the number
of scholars continue as large as at the present time
after the establishment of the High School we think
that measures should be taken into the early part
of the next season to build a new house to meet the wants
of the district.
