To Leonard Proctor & Humphrey Simonds both of Lexington in the aforesaid County, Greeting. You are hereby required in the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to appraise upon oath at the true value, thereof in money, according to your best Judgement a Horse taken up damage feasant [that is, doing damage] by Jonas M. Muzzey of said Lexinton, and make return of this warrant and your doings therein to the Town Clerk of said Lexington within seven days from the date hereof. Given under my hand & seal (by virtue of an act respecting lost goods & stray beasts passed Feb. 13. 1789) this eighteenth day of July A.D. 1828 Nathaniel Mulliken Town Clerk. Middlesex Ss. personally appeared before me the above named Leonard Proctor & Humphrey Simonds and made oath that they would faithfully perform the service to which they are appointed in the above warrant.
