Warrant for a Town Meeting
Monday, March. 3rd, 1873.
To Oliver W. Kendall,
Constable of Lexington,
Greeting:-
In the
name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
you are hereby required to notify and warn
the inhabitants, of Lexington, qualified by
law to vote in Town affairs, to assemble
at the Town Hall on Monday the third
day of March next at one o'clock P.M.
to act on the following Articles, viz: -
Art. 1. To choose a Moderator.
Art. 2. To choose Town Officers for the
ensuing year, including one School Committee
Man for three years.
The polls will be opened immediately
after the meeting is organized and
will be kept open until four o'clock P.M.
for the choice of Town Clerk, Selectmen,
Assessors, Treasurer and Collector.
3 Art. 3. To provide for the repairs of
the Highways the ensuing year, and
to grant money for the same.
4 Art. 4 to provide for the support
of the Poor the ensuing year, and
to grant money for the same.
5 Art. 5. To provide for the support
of the Public Schools the ensuing
year, including their several grades,
and to grant money for the same.
School Committees and Constable,
and such other officers as the Town may
direct to be chosen by ballot.
Art. 6 To choose a Committee near for
three years, to fill a vacancy in the
Committee having charge of the Cemeteries
Art. 7 To see if the Town will devote
the rent of hte apartments of the Town Hall
Building to the procuring of Statues for
the Memorial Hall.
Art. 8. To see if the Town will accept
and support the street lamps tendered
to them by the citizens who have purchased
the same.
Art. 9. To see if the Town will devote
the net proceeds of the Dog Licenses to the
increase of the Cary Library.
Art. 10 To see if the Town will
furnish a cooking and dining room
in the attic or basement stories of the

Town Hall Building, or act in any
manner in relation thereto.
Art. 11 To see if the Town will accept
the Act of the Legislature, authorizing
the draining of the meadows near the
Centre villege.
Art. 12 To see what action the Town
will take relative to the Report of the
Committee on the subject of introducing
gas into the Town Hall Building, or act
in any manner in relation to the subject of lighting
the Town Hall Building.
Art. 13 To see if the Town will appropriate
any sum; not exceeding twenty-five
cents for each ratable poll, to encourage
the planting of shade trees upon the
public squares and highways.
Art. 14 To see if the Town will adopt
the improvements or addition to the Hancock
School House, and the other School Houses
in town, as recommended by the School
Committee, and grant money for the
same.

Art. 15 To see if the Town will finish
a wash-room, and build a shed at
the Poor House as recommended by the
Overseers of the Poor, and grant money
for the same.
Art. 16 To hear the Report of the
Committee to whom was referred
the subject of Town By-Laws and
Rules for regulating Town Meetings, and
act upon the same.
Art. 17. To see if the Town will require
the Highway Surveyors and Overseers of
the Poor to make a Report early in the
months of June, September, and December
of each year, containing their expenditures
with the vouchers for the same, to the first
of the said months respectively; and the
School Committee a similar Report in the
month of July in each year, showing
their expenditures to the first of said month
to the Selectmen, who shall examine the
same.

Art. 18 To hear the Reports of any
Boards or Committees who may be ready
to report, and act thereon.
Hereof fail not and make return
of this Warrant and your doings thereon
to the Town Clerk on or before the time
of said meeting.

Pursuant to the within Warrant, I have Notified the
Inhabitants of the Town of Lexington, herein described,
to meet at the time and place and for the purposes
within mentioned, by leaving an atested copy to
the families.
