April 11th 1870
To Oliver W Kendall, Constable of
Lexington. Greeting:
In the name of the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts you are hereby required to
notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Lexington, qualified
by law to vote in Town affairs - to assemble
at the Town Hall on Monday the eleventh day
of April next, at one o'clock P.M. to act
on the following Articles, viz:
Art. 1. To choose a Moderator
Art. Ⅱ To elect the remaining Town Officers
and to fill any vacancies that may exist.
Art. Ⅲ. To see what instruction the Town
will give relative to the collection of taxes
the ensuing year and what discount
shall be made for prompt payments.
Art.Ⅳ. To see if the Town will make an
appropriation to finish certain improvements
on Adams and Weston Streets.
Art.Ⅴ. To see if the Town will authorize the
Committee, chosen to build the Town Hall to
procure the necessary heating apparatus to
be placed in the building while the walls are
being erected.
Art.Ⅵ. To see if the Town will provide for
the ringing of the bells the ensuing year.
Art. Ⅶ. To grant money to defray the necessary
Town charges the ensuing year.
Art.Ⅷ. To hear a Report of the Selectmen
relative to the care and custody of the property
and funds of the Town, and the mode of keeping
a proper Record of the same, and to act
in any manner relative to the subject.
Art.Ⅸ. To see if the Town will accept
the List of Jurors prepared and presented
by the Selectmen.
Art. Ⅹ. To see if the Town will authorize
the Town Clerk, under the direction of the
Trustees of the Library, to make exchanges
of the History of Lexington for the Histories
of other towns, to be placed in said
Library; provided it can be done on
reasonable terms.
Art. Ⅺ. To see if the Town will authorize
the Selectmen to purchase for the Town
any land, or materials for repairing the
highways; or in case thay can not purchase
any land or materials for that purpose,
to see if the Town will authorize
them to take, agreeably to the provisions
of the 237th Chapter of the Acts of 1869.
such lands or materials for repairing said
highways, as they may deem for the interest
of the town.
Art. Ⅻ. To hear the Report of any Committee
which may be ready to report, and take
such action thereon as may be thought expedient.
Art. ⅩⅢ. To have a Communication from
Mrs. Maria Cary.
Art. XIV. To see if the Town will authorize
the Committee, who are empowered to borrow
money to build the Town Hall, to borrow
of the Commonwealth.
Art. XV. To see if the Town will authorize
the Selectmen to repair the Hay scales
belonging to the Town, or to purchase new
scales, as may be thought expedient; or
act in any manner relating to the
matter.
Hereof fail not and make return
of the Warrant and your doings thereon
to the Town Clerk on or before the day of
meeting.

The Selectmen will be in session at the Town
Hall on the last Monday of each month at 7 o'clock
P.M. for the transaction of public business.
