Dear Sir :-
I respectfully protest against the use at the town meeting
to be held on Monday, March 4 , 1901, or any adj ourn..ent thereof , of any
ballots bearing the nare of John F. Hut.ch-insori, cr a.ry other person, as
can-didate for the office of Se l_ectman for the term of one year ; the
ground of my obJection being that by the requirements of the statutes of
the Commonwealth a�'1111 +Te votes duly passed by tl-ie inhabitants of said
town, a. S-electman should be elected at said ineeti-_i ; or. b1arch 4th proximo,
for the term of three years , a-rid that. it is and will be unlawful, under
said statutes and votes , to elect , or attempt to elect , a SeiectcI_,:,,.,i t
that meeting for any of ler or different term than three years .
I protest , for the reasons herein given, against t/,e preparatioryi
of any sypectimen or other ballots for urye in or in connection with the
approaching tovvn, election, bearing the name of Jch n. F. Hutchinson as a
candidate for tlae alleged office of Select3-awn for one year , or indicating
in any way that votes are to be rece_,_vad for cr against any person: as
a candidate for srch office, viz : Selectman for the term of one year .
Nomination papers in legal and sufficient fore., duly nominating me
as a candidate for the office of Select,,ran for the term of three years ,

to be voted for iii said town on the fourth day of March, 1901, having,
together with my written acceptance of the nomination, been duly filers
with, you as the Town Clerk of said town before five o ' clock in the _
afternoon of Monday , Feb , 252 19017 I demand that you .cause to be printed
upon the official ballots for use at said meeting, my naive as a candidate
for office of Selectman for the term of three years ; the designation of
the office and the arrangement of my na.rne to be in all respects as re-
quired by Chapter 548 of the- Acts of 1898 .
