Hausslein, Susan Kenyon, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski

Votes: Meeting minutes of April 25 and May 16, 2019: Approved
Taken out of order, the Community Connector report - Keith presented at the Joint
Stewards/Conservation Commission meeting May 20, regarding fitting the project into the Con-
servation Priorities list. May make sense to separate Community Connector from Environmen-
tal Bond Bill. ConCom will support the Connector between the Community Center and Cotton
Farm, but the continuation through the wetland to reach the high school is a much bigger pro-
ject and is unlikely to be high on the Priorities list. Could it still fit into the Environmental Bond
Bill if done in twohp ases (as opposed to two separate projects, which would eliminate it from
qualifying for EBB funds)?
Reports/Updates:
• Return to the Hudson Room in September.
• Jordan & the Conservation interns are working on the Laconia St trail.
• Work on the 0 Grove St (Jefferson Drive) development is progressing and the developer has
agreed to put forward money for the trail, which can be used for surveying. Developer will
build trail to the property line. Rerouting the existing social trail will include building a 24 foot
bridge. Sheila Page is the contact in the Planning Dept on this project. Joe and Mark will fig-
ure out who should talk to Burlington. Might help if GCC members can walk site with sur-
veyor when that gets scheduled.
• The Bridge School NOI needs a DEP number. Mal explained about ConCom concern about
seed mix and possible replanting of closed trail area. Will ask ConCom to visit site again.
• Fairland St project - Susan and Keith have been emailing with Mark Baron. Susan will go to
next Weds Planning Board meeting to follow up. Project will need to satisfy ConCom and
DPW as well as Planning. Sheila Page (Asst. Planning Dir.) is the project contact for Town.
• Susan has the last box of brochures and will have students distribute this summer. There
should be enough to last through July and maybe into August. We will be ready for a new
map this fall. Hayden Woods boardwalk work will be done by fall, and the Bowman School
site walk is scheduled for Friday so the next route will be signed soon. Keith will put in a
budget request this fall for $5000 for a new brochure. We should put the QR code on the
new brochure. We will have to figure out what text to cut, as we don't have enough space for
more points of interest now. Should we go to a larger format? Should we coordinate with
Tourism and their brochure?
• A Winchester resident emailed the GCC general email with ideas for future trails. Keith will
respond and cc Bob for follow up.
Current Business:
• Keith, Eileen, and Peggy will attend the Bowman School site walk with Karen Mullins and
someone from the school. They will plan the trail through or around the playground, and look
at the drainage in the muddy area. Follen Rd parking is still an issue on this route.
New Business:
• Review budget for 2020 - need about $5000 for next brochure, and $2500 for Peacock Farm
Rd surveying, $500 for postage & printing. Would probably be useful to have annual amount
allotted for surveying.
• Peacock Farm access strip to Sutherland Woods - Town staff will reach out to property
owner; need contact info.
Pending Items:
• Peacock Farm Rd Access
• Report on Conservation land behind Elks Club (Peggy)
Next Meeting: September 19, 2019, 4:30-6:OOpm, Hudson Room, Cary Hall
Future meeting dates: Oct. 17, Nov. 21, Dec. 19
