Gentlemen:
We desire to call your attention to a recent act of the
legislature, a copy of which is enclosed.
In view of its provisions , it seems to be advisable that
representations to the overseers of the poor , in doubtful cases ,
shall be in writing and signed by the person making such represen-
tations .
This remark is especially applicable to cases concerning
alleged foundlings and deserted infants ; and no such child should
be received by the overseers for commitment to the State Board
except upon such a signed statement .
