July 9, 2026 Meeting Minutes
Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250)
convened in a virtual format via Zoom video conference on Thursday July 9, 2026 at 4:30 PM by
Mona Roy as allowed by legislation (S.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of
the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law.

• The meeting was called to order at 4:33 by M. Roy
• Annual Report
o The Commission's submission to the annual report was sent around prior to the
meeting.
o M. Roy moved to approve the Semiquincentennial Commission's submission to
the Annual Town Report.
■ The motion was seconded and passed by unanimous roll call vote.
• VO 250
o Submissions have closed and hours are being processed to finalize the list of
those who have earned pins. Efforts will be made to communicate the
opportunities for pin distribution.
o The arch will remain up until October. The future of the arch is uncertain;
archiving of the arch or pieces of it may potentially happen as storage space
allows.
• Declaration Debrief
o Lexington was one of 1,0127 sites nationwide doing readings of the Declaration
of Independence at 6 PM local time on July 8.
o The reading of the Declaration of Independence was successful, though more
publicity could have been done. Incorporated into the event was recognition of
Massachusetts Emancipation Day, also known as Quock Walker Day, as well as
Charlie Price's birthday.
o The event was recorded by LexMedia and is available on YouTube.
• Website Archiving
o Work is ongoing to archive the Lex250 website, with JGPR, Economic
Development, Communications, and IT involved.
• Minutes
o A. Rooney moved to approve the minutes of 6/12/2024, 7/24/2024, 3/12/2026,
4/9/2026, and 6/11/2026.
o Motion was seconded and approved by unanimous roll call vote.
• Next meeting: July 30 at 4:30 PM via Zoom.
• The meeting was adjourned at 5:23 PM
