HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-06-11-LEX250-minSemiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) June 11, 2026 Meeting Minutes Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) convened in a virtual format via Zoom video conference on Thursday June 11, 2026 at 4:30 PM by Mona Roy as allowed by legislation (S.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Present Remotely: Mona Roy, Community Representative, Chair Bridger McGaw, Community Representative, Vice Chair Noah Michelson, Community Representative, Clerk Cleve Coats, Community Representative Steve Conners, Reenactment Community Representative Barry Cunha, Business Representative Kerry Dunne, LPS Representative Cerise Jalelian, Town Celebrations Committee Representative Melanie Lin, Community Representative Doug Lucente, Select Board Member Julie O'Leary, Civic Representative Paul O'Shaughnessy, Historical Organization Representative Ashley Rooney, Community Representative Jillian Tung, Music & Arts Representative Absent: Bebe Fa!lick, Tourism Committee Representative • The meeting was called to order at 4:32 PM by M. Roy • Minutes o B. McGaw moves to approve the minutes of 12/3/25 and 5/21/26. o Unanimously approved by all present. (Less J. O'Leary and C. Coats) • VO250 o Hours will accepted until July 4th o A wrap-up event will be held on September 26th, around noon. • Signature Events o Garden tour this weekend from 10-3 o July is the Carnival, fireworks, and Asian music festival • 1775 Club o Recognition of donors will fall to the Select Board. Space was previously promised in the Visitors Center. 0 • Next Steps O Reporting O Finishing minutes o The Commission is looking to schedule a get-together, potentially post -dissolution o July 30th remote meeting at 4:30, with another meeting possible earlier in July • Riding Through History o A presentation will be made to the Select Board regarding a plan for the future of the horses. o A horse will not remain at the Visitors Center, at the request of Economic Development. Lexington History Museums is supportive of moving Illumineigh-ted to the Community Center. o Monies from auction of horses will potentially go towards upkeep of the remaining Town -owned horses as well as creating a fund for upkeep of other Lexington monuments and memorials. • MA250 o MA250 is trying to organize every town reading the Declaration of Independence on July 8 at 6PM. ■ Location to be determined; either Visitors Center or Battle Green, with Select Board approval needed for use of the Green. S. Conners and B. McGaw will submit the necessary form. o A state time capsule is being organized. • Next meeting: July 9th, virtual via Zoom at 4:30 • The meeting was adjourned at 5:29 PM Respectfully Submitted, Noah Michelson
