Eric Ballard, Jr, Upasna Chhabra, Katherine Huang, Stephen Jackson, JeBrey Lyon, Innessa Manning, Jerold Michelson (Chair), Danit Netzer, Jon Wakelin Liaisons present: Jay Abdella, EDC; Doug Lucente, Select Board; Sandhya Iyer, EDD; Tina McBride, Planning Board Guests present: Dave Armstrong, Bike Advisory Committee; Peggy Enders, Friends of Lexington Bikeways; Andy Friedlich, TMM Precinct 5; Pam Lyons; Carol Sacerdote; Tom Shiple, Bike Advisory Committee; Leslie Wilcott-Henrie, Lexington Farmers Market President =================================== DPW Update • Most work continues to be around upcoming Patriots Day Celebrations Economic Development Update Business Updates: • Karen Packard from Wales Copy Shop is retiring and closing the shop. • Beauty and Main (1707 Mass Ave) is now Stellar Medical Aesthetics. • Lexington Liquors (7 Depot Square) is changing to a fast casual restaurant. • There is a new hair salon (10 Muzzey St) Noor Hair Studio. Someone previously in Bedford purchased this condo – small interior space. Wayfinding Signs to be installed after Patriots Day Upcoming Programs: • Patriots Day Celebrations • FIFA Watch Parties o Received $25,000 from Comm of Mass to sponsor watch parties • Immersive Tours from the Visitors Center starting soon. • Discovery Day – May 23rd Page 2 of 3 Parklet • To be installed and available end of May through October • Location options: o Outside Avenue Deli or Nouve on Mass Ave o Outside Fiorellas or Upper Crust on Waltham Street o Location to be decided after EDD speaks with businesses o Suggestion to add bike racks to the parklet Farmers Market 2026 (Leslie) • Returning to Fletcher Park for the 2026 Season • This is the 22nd year with 34 vendors – local vendors, artisans and musicians • May 26 through end of October • About 700 visitors last season of which 30-40% were from out of town • Suggestion for vendors to park in Depot Lot so they are away from Fletcher Street to partner with businesses on Tuesdays. Motion proposed and all agreed to support Lexington Farmers Market requesting parking in Depot Square for the Tuesdays while the Farmers Market is in session. Center Parking Management and Circulation • Committee discussed the scope of work prepared by Jay and LCC Subcommittee in preparation for Jay applying for the grant. • The grant will be most eBective if framed under EDD vibrancy. • Try to coordinate with Meghan Roche, Plainning Dept, who received $180,000 from the last Town Meeting to study the bike path and its connection to LHS, so there is no duplication of work. Perhaps consider the same consultant if grant is received. Motion passed to support EDD applying for this grant and being on the Select Board agenda for same. Discussion of E-bikes and Bicycles on Sidewalks in Center Page 3 of 3 • Committee discussed diBerent types of vehicles involved and suggestions for eliminating riding on sidewalks in Center. • Suggestions included: Increased police presence, Social Media Campaign made by students and amplified on diBerent platforms, and perhaps Registering e-bikes with schools. • No recommendations at this time but agreement subject needs more attention.
