The meeting began at 7:00 pm in the Lexington Police Department Conference Room. Absent: Jimmy Athens, Owen Rosenthal, Eliza Babson, Barton Byers, Rohan Singh, Amelia Tanin, Sarah Chen, Grette Buttner, Kimly Nguyen, Brendan O'Shaughnessy, Sarah Beuttell, Victoria Wu, Alice Ma, Nethra Ramaiah, Raghav Shrivastava, Vivian Lou, Blake St. Louis, Avery Baker Nielsen Present: Debra Hankins, Shannon DeGugllielmo, Tom Romano, Anthony Marbardy, Kristina Hankins, Doug Lucente, Sofia Saleeby, Sarah Kochi, Sadie Maloney, Brett Robinson, Ava Kieval, Emily Hoefhens, Meera Krishnan, Amanda Quattlebaum, Emma Kain, Adam Rovner, Henry Kamich, Sophie Read, Samantha Quattlebaum, Brooke Pan, Lucy Applegate, Tyler Ross, Rohan Banerji, Margot Byers, Eva Benet, Elle Kieval, Andrew Najarian, Jayant Krishnan, Carys Roberts, Keya Doshi, Violet Clarke, Allie Hesik, Zoey Simon February Meeting Minutes Brett read and approved, sent to the town archives Event Debriefs: Lions Eyeglass Cleaning Ava and Sofia shared a recap of the Lions Eyeglass Project. The event went very well and used a new method of sorting the glasses, which helped the process run more smoothly. Approximately 1,432 pairs of glasses were collected. There was a strong volunteer turnout, and assigning people to different roles made the project especially successful. Members also enjoyed gathering for food afterward. New Member Recruitment The Youth Commission is currently looking to recruit incoming freshmen and sophomores. Members who have younger siblings interested in joining were encouraged to have them apply, as applicants with siblings currently involved may receive priority consideration. Upcoming Events Tom's Easter Eggs Saturday, March 28th, 2026 12:00 PM - 3:30 PM (or done) DEB wrote this - IMPORTANT The group will meet in the Lexington Community Center at 39 Marriot Road. We have 4,000, yes I said 4,000 eggs to fill. We have 40 members, that is 100 eggs each, we need everyone to participate! Many families have already signed up to attend the event. SO FAR Members signed up to help: Sadie Maloney, Brett Robinson, Ava Kieval, Emily Hoefhens, Henry Kamich, Lucy Applegate, Brendan O'Shaughnessy, Rohan Banerji, Eva Benet, Elle Kieval, Andrew Najarian, Jayant Krishnan, Carys Roberts, Violet Clarke, Avery Baker Nielsen, Zoey Simon, Vivian Lou DEB is waiting to hear from those who were not at the meeting And those who were at the meeting who didn't sign up. Patriots' Day Preparation Friday, April 17th, 2026 Members discussed preparation for Patriots' Day, including decorating the golf cart and loading flags at Arlex Oil (275 Mass Ave). This preparation will likely take about one hour. The exact time will be finalized at the April meeting. About 10 volunteers will be needed. Patriots' Day Parade Saturday, April 18, 2026 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Members will meet between 12:00 and 12:15 PM across from the gas station at Maple and Mass Ave, to help hand out flags during the parade. Members were encouraged to bring friends to help. Members noted that last year's event went very well and hope for a similar outcome this year. Tom's Time Tom shared information about Youth Reach, a program that provides funding for youth programs such as art initiatives. Youth Reach currently has $1.8 million available in grant funding for projects lasting 2-4 years. Tom suggested partnering with the Youth Commission on a potential project benefiting the community center. If you are interested in this, please reach out to Tom directly He also discussed plans to replace the Center Recreation playground with a fully inclusive playground. Renderings are available on the town website. Additionally, a new skatepark is planned once the new school construction begins. VO250 Arch Lighting 1 Sunday, March 15th, 2026 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM The second -to -last lighting of the arch at Town Hall. The event will also involve recognizing and counting the many community service hours completed by Lexington residents. Closing Comments Members briefly discussed the 2026-2027 LYC 50th anniversary of the Lexington Youth Commission, Doug is looking to put together with the upcoming seniors a committee to plan 50th LYC Birthday Party.
