HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-02-12-DIAMOND-minDate: 2/12/26 Meeting started at 7:00 with social updates • Attendees: Johnny Cole (Principal), Stef Harvey (Assistant Principal), Whitney Didie (Teacher), Remy Coombs (Teacher), Katina Lawdis (OT), and parents Joyce Dvorak, Christina Finegold, and Beth Bristol. Minutes: The minutes from the previous meeting (including a past conversation about "knives") were approved. Formal Business: School Innovation Plan (SIP) Review Johnny Cole, leads a review of the "Keep, Lose, Dream, Innovate" (KLDI) framework for the final two goals of the SIP: • Goal 3: Cultivating Student Agency • Focus: Placing students at the center of learning, goal setting, and "productive struggle." • Updates: ■ The school is pushing for more student -led "WIN" (What I Need) blocks and growing the Student Council. ■ A self -reflection tool for standards-based report cards is currently at a standstill. • Goal 4: Innovating for Sustainable Change • Focus: Improving decision-making structures to prevent "initiative overload." • Updates: ■ Current structures rely on monthly meetings with team leaders and faculty feedback; the goal is to formalize these processes further. The committee moved into breakout rooms for 20 minutes to brainstorm specific "Keep, Lose, Dream, Innovate" items for these goals. ( Refer to notes pages) Administrative & Community Updates • Budget Reductions: Principal Cole notes a discrepancy between school budget requests and the town's view. There will likely be staff reductions for the fall. The priority is to avoid cuts that increase class sizes or counselor/special education caseloads. • Course Registration: • 8th Grade: Registration starts the first week of March (following a curriculum night at the high school). • 6th/7th/5th Grade: Registration begins mid-March. • Mascots: The school introduced two new mascots, Bongo and Conga, who enter to Gloria Estefan's "Conga." They were a huge hit with the 6th graders. Health: There is a high incidence of Flu A and B currently affecting student attendance.
