20/20 Vision Committee Meeting

The meeting was called to order: 7:49 a.m.
The minutes for the May 31, 2019 meeting were approved.
The meeting was primarily devoted to
■ Reflections from the outgoing Management Fellow, Rajon Hudson
■ Receiving updates for the Futures Panel event
■ Receiving an update on the ECiL subcommittee's progress
■ Discussing potential goals to present to the Selectmen
Meeting Highlights
■ Rajon Hudson provided a reflection of his service with the 20/20 Vision Committee and the
Town of Lexington
■ Futures Panel Planning Discussion
■ The date for the Futures Panel event has been moved to April 2, 2020 from 7
P.M.—9 P.M.
■ LexMedia has been contacted about broadcasting for the day of this event
■ Jay Kaufman has been confirmed as the moderator for the event
■ Nariman Behravesh has been confirmed as a speaker on Economic Trends
■ Julie Hackett has been confirmed as a speaker for this event on the topic of
Education
o Joi Ito from MIT Media Lab has been suggested as potential speaker for Demographic
Change/Smart Cities
o Sandy Padak has been selected as a potential speaker for Demographic Changes
o Michelle Ciccolo, Carlo Ratti, has been selected to contact for potential speaker roles
0 30 minutes per presentation have been suggested for the speakers
o The Town Clerk's Office have been suggested as the point of contact for receiving
census information
■ Enhancing Communication in Lexington (ECiL)
o The Town's Social Media Accounts have leveled off in following
o The Town's Newsletters have been growing in new resident subscriptions
o The online survey is currently in development with Sean Dugan, Marian Cohen, and
Mark coordinating the process

o The survey is expected to be rolled out in September to other Public Information
officials
■ Board of Selectmen Goal Setting
o Potential Goals to present to the Selectmen for their goal setting meeting
■ Town-wide Communication
■ Integration of other demographics and underrepresented groups to be included
in community activities
From discussions,we formulated the following decisions and action items:

■ Margaret has agreed to potential serve as the 20/20 Vision Representative for the Board of
Selectmen Goal Meeting
Action Items
■ Andrew will work with Dan to get the most recent demographic and census information on
Lexington.
■ The Futures Panel Working Group will continue contacting potential speakers and
representatives.
