that we George Gray, Stephen C Kendall
jointly and severally are holden and stand firm-
ly bound and obligated unto the inhabitants
of the town of Lexington in the County of Mid-
dlesex and state of Massachusetts in the full &
just sum of six hundred dollars to be paid
unto said inhabitants or their successors, to
which payment well and truly to be made
we jointly and severally bind ourselves, our
heirs, Executors & administrators [illegible] by these
presents.
Witness our hands and seals, this 30th day
of September one thousand eight hundred and fifty
one.
The condition of this obligation is such,
That whereas said Grey & Kendall have
argeed to erect and complete a School House
in the town of Lexington as per contract
with said inhabitants elected September 30th
and Gray & Kendall has employed diverse laborers
to work in and repair the said House:
And whereas by a law of the Commonwealth
each of the said laborers has a lein[?] upn
the said House and the land upon which
it is situated to the amount of his wa-
ges:
Now therefore if the said Gray and
Kendall shall so pay or satisfy the said la-
borers for the work by them perform
ed severally upon said shool [school] House so no
one of them shall for the space of sixty
days from the date hereof file with
the Register of Deeds for the County of Mid-
dlesex, his account for his labor, as shall
commence a suit for the emplyment of
said lien within seventy days from the
date hereof; or if said Gray & Kendall C & Kendall
shall hold the said inhabitants harmless
and save them from all trouble and
expense, in case a suit is commenced,
this obligation shall be void; otherwise
to remain in full force and effect, to
be enforced at any time after the said
inhabitants are subjected to any epense
by any process commensed by said laborers
or any of them.
