Prior to discharging required duties, officers appointed to or promoted within, including
retired officers who wish to maintain their standing as a Special Police Officer as a sworn
member of the Lexington Police Department, shall take and subscribe to the following
oath before the Town Clerk or Assistant Clerk.
"I, (state your name), do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and
allegiance to the United States of America and the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts and will support the constitutions and laws thereof. So
help me God."
"I, (state your name), do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and
impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as
a (state rank) of the Town of Lexington and will obey and be bound by
such laws, rules and regulations as are or may be, from time to time
laid down for the government of the police department of said Town.
So help me God."
A person who is to be appointed as a member of the force shall also subscribe his name
to the following agreement:
"I, (printed name) hereby accept the office of (rank) on the police force
of the Town of Lexington."
