To Jonas M. Muzzey Constable of the town of Lexington. Greetings,
You are hereby required in the name of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Lexington
who are Qualified to vote for Senators or Representatives in
the General Court, to Assemble at the Old Meeting House in said
Town on Monday the Sixth day of April next at one o clock P.M.
for the purpose of giving in their votes for or against a proposed
Article of Amendmen of the Constitiution of this Commonwealth,
Pursuant to a Resolve of the General Court of Massachusetts Approved
by the Governor March 10th 1840. entitled "Resolves relating to a proposed
Article of Amendment of the Constitution".
And you are alike required to notify and warn the afore said
Inhabitants to meet at the afore said place who are qualified to
Vote in town affairs to Assemble at two o.clock P.M. to act on the following articles
Viz Art 1st} to Choose a Moderator
Art. 2d} To hear reports of Committees and Act thereon
Art.3d} To Choose a School Committee
Art.4th} To fill all vacancies in town offices
Art.5th} To see if the Town will allow JohnMuzzey to work out
his highway tax on the road leading by his house the present year
Art.6th} To See if the Town will refund the poll tax to Engine men
that per form the duty required by law for One year from
from May 1st 1840
Art.7th} To see if the Town will choose a Committee to examine
and report what repairs & alterations if any are
expedient to be made upon the first congregational
societies meeting House with estimates and plans to
accomplish the same or act otherwise on the article
