• Survey and discussion of comparable schools' websites
o Counseling
o Communication
o Community service
o Website structure
• Reviewed websites of LHS and comparable schools by searching for information in the above topics and
reviewing the layout, ease of use and information available for students, families and staff. School
websites visited were: LHS,Brookline,Needham,Wellesley,Belmont,Newton and Palo Alto.
• The school district is planning to change the platform for the school websites in the next year and this is
an opportunity to identify improvements that can enhance communications between school and
staff/families/students.
• Key features include a functioning search capability, intuitive organization (tabs, clicks, available details),
functioning links that go to the same locations from different entry points, accessible teacher directory
and class websites, headlines and quick links to commonly visited sites (like counseling department and
community service),mobile friendly, updated information and photos.
III. Updates/Discussion
• Budget is in process of prioritizing individual school requests.
• Later Start Time passed by School Committee unanimously for school year 2020-2021 to allow time
to solve implementation difficulties (e.g.METCO bus transport at commuting times, conflict with
LABB program start time).
• Block Schedule timelines—focus groups have been held and extensive information has been
disseminated.A preference survey will be going out to stakeholder groups shortly and will be due at
the beginning of January.Principal Stephens will decide in mid-January.
IV. School Improvement Plan Update:
• 3.3 Begin a process to develop and articulate LHS Core Values, Beliefs about learning, and the vision
of the graduate (Visioning & Standard 1 - Learning Culture 1.2a Foundational Element: The school
has a written document describing its core values, beliefs about learning, and vision of the graduate)
• School District is developing a system wide vision of core values and the Lexington graduate—will
defer this goal on the SIP to coordinate with the system wide effort.
