Present: Andrew Stephens, Suzanne Lau,Elise Rowley, Erin Barrett, Dave Wininger, Sharon Kendall, Ed Li,Katie Cutler,Liz Curtin,Nancy Shepard, Kate Vogelzang and Sheera Knecht. Guest: Angela Chang (LHS parent). Absent: Shiv Chandra, Bryce Spalding,Leslie Zales and Alex McLaughlin I. Minutes for the March 19,2018 meeting were approved. II. Discussion • 2017-2018 School Improvement Plan o Highlighted progress in the current SIP and identified areas that need to be continued next year. Specifically,need a more strategic approach that is better articulated to improve the work with grade level assets. Also, need to develop a strategic plan and path for updating DCAP. • 2018-2019 School Improvement Plan o Reviewed four areas of goals for the SIP next year in small groups. o Feedback will be shared with leadership team. o Goals that emerged from earlier brainstorming exercise with School Council and other stakeholder groups were highlighted. o Some goals will require coordination with Central Office and are multi-year efforts. o Goals will be refined and prioritized further. o Goals under consideration include more systematic and deliberate activities to calibrate grading within courses/departments; explore and clarify ways teachers communicate homework and assignments to students; examine course leveling practices and recommendations; improve student-parent handbook; create a template for class expectations and bundle common information; celebrate student/adult successes without emphasizing competition. • Security updates feedback o More doors are locked that before. o Adjustments being made based on feedback. o Acknowledge that this is an interim plan until automated door locks are approved in Town meeting and installed. o This is a reality of our time and a culture change for the school community. III. Announcements/updates from Council members Stephens Announcements/Updates: • Final Exam Schedule has been announced.Last day of school is June 22. • LHS School council candidates for the election to fill 2 open parent representative positions have been announced. Voting opens this week and will close on May 13. IV. Adjournment 7:15 pm
