Interim Principal Rick Rogers will remain until the end of June. Lisa will not be involved in the daily operations of the school. Rather she will use the time to learn about the Estabrook and Lexington community. She will participate in key meetings involving planning for next year (e.g. School Council, Leadership Team, building-based professional learning), as well some district-level meetings & professional learning. She will be involved in hiring for next year. She will also have the opportunity to meet with individuals or groups in whatever way she determines will be most helpful. Approval of March 7, 2019 Minutes: On a motion by Amy Klotz, seconded by Joyce Dvorak, the minutes of March 7, 2019 were approved. Setting Priorities for School Improvement Plan We resumed our conversation about setting priorities for next year’s School Improvement Plan. Rick shared the results of surveys completed by the faculty Leadership Team and PTO Executive Board. Council members discussed the chart summarizing which action steps were identified as a top 3 priority and which were identified as also important (limit 3 more). Council members also read the comments from the open ended questions (greatest strength, most important thing missing from current SIP, most important thing to keep in current plan). The next step is to identify 8-10 items from among the 18 action steps to use in a survey with the entire staff, as well as parents. After some discussion, 10 items were identified to include in the survey. Some key points from the discussion:  Remember that responses to this survey are based on individuals’ varied interests and roles. It is also important to use data (when available) to help determine areas of greatest need.  Parents may not be as familiar with some of the language (PBIS, restorative justice, RTI). We will need to provide a short explanation.  We may want to identify action steps that involve the PTO and/or School Council, such as improving communication and increasing involvement of ELL families.  The district template requires Academic, Social-Emotional, and Safety as goal areas. Safety will be in the plan no matter what, but as an ongoing item, rather than an improvement priority. Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 15, 2019 – 3:30 1
