HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-01-09-DAC-min LEXINGTON DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE Minutes of Meeting of January 9, 2019 A meeting of the Design Advisory Committee (DAC) was held on January 9, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Ellen Stone Room located on the first floor of Cary Memorial Hall, Lexington, MA. Members Present: Tim Lee, John Frey, Brigitte Steines, Caroline Fitzgerald, Steve Vincent, Richard Friedson, Alenka Slezak, Jill Hai Members Absent: Bruce Creager, Bahig Kaldas Approvals: Previous meeting minutes approved The Committee meeting reviewed and acted on the following item(s): 1. Wireless facility application, 251 Waltham Street Lexington High School property (Park Drive).  Committee reviewed the application and design of the new small cell wireless facility  Communications committee recommended approval  Some members did not like the appearance of the facility, found it unappealing  After review and discussion of the application the Committee unanimously agreed to recommend approval of the sign to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Exhibits presented at our meeting: 252 Waltham Street 1. Copy of design package – Verizon & Nexius Lexington_SC02_MA Park Drive Lexington, MA T-1, A-1 through A-4 dated 11/27/19 2. Nexius Small Cell Telecommunications Facility Lexington_SC02_MA Park Drive Lexington, MA – Photo simulations – 4 sheets Other Business: 1. General discussion regarding the upcoming center streetscape town meeting vote  Important to get the word out  Debunk misinformation  What can the DAC do to help? 2. General discussion with Jill Hai and committee about the DAC’s role in reviewing Town projects  Defining the DAC’s role in the design review process as it relates to other Committees with similar roles like the HDC and the Permanent Building Committee  Jill will be speaking with the Town manager about this issue  Obtaining a higher status to approve or deny projects like that of the HDC is very difficult Meeting was adjourned Respectfully submitted Timothy Lee Cc: Jill Hai, Board of Selectmen Liaison Bob Creech, Planning Board Liaison
