HomeMy WebLinkAbout875 Deed, Hastings Park land sold by the Lexington Field and Garden Club to the Town of Lexington, April 24, 1897 ff0 -W ALL jM F* IN BY T -9 B S E _PHESE, NTS that the Lexington Field and Carden Club, a corporation established at Lexington, Middlesex Oeunty, Massachusetts, in consideration of the vote of said Town of ;exington.- at a meeting called for that purpose to accept a conveyance of the lot of land hereinafter described upon the conditions or restrictions hereinafter mentioned, and of one dollar_ to it paid by said Town of fexington the receipt of Which is hereby acknowledged does hereby remise, release and forever QUITCLAIM unto said Town of Lexington a certain triangular piece of land situated in said Lexington. Westerly of the common, at the junction of the Concord and Lincoln roads, bounded and described as follows . ;,Jortherly by Concord Road forty four (44) rods, more .or less; south, southeasterly by the Lincoln road thirty six and one half (806 1/2) rods, more or less; and southerly, southwesterly .and westerly in an irregular line twenty five (25) rods, more or less, by a road leading from said Lincoln read to said Concord road. Containing two acres, two quarters and twenty six ( 26) square rods more or less, and being the same premises conveyed to said Lexington Field and Carden Club by Carlton A. Maples by his deed. dated August 29 , A. D. 1891 and recorded with 1 iddlesex South District Deeds,, Lib. 2070_, Fol 258,. This tract of land is conveyed to said Town of Lexington under the condition, that it shall always remain open as a public park, to be called Hastings park, for the use of the public, under such: rules and regulations as may be made by said Town, and upon the further condition that said. 'Town shall annually appropriate and use a sufficient sum of Money to keep the same in good condition for a puuli and upon the further condition that in ease said Town shall fail to comply with the eonditions previously provided in this deed said land shall become and be the property of the Cary Library of said Lexington. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the granted premises with. all the ' r. mw! privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging, to the said Trown of Lexinn�to-n to its own use and behoof forever.- IR WITNESS WHEREOF the said Lexington Field and Garden Club has caused its seal to be hereto affixed and this deed to be executed and delivered by George 0. Davis and acknowledged the foregoing instrument to be the free act and deed of said the Lexington Field and Garden Club.- Justice of the Peace. Vote.- At a meeting, of the Lexington Field and Garden Club holden April 71 1897 and called for the purpose,the following vote was passedi Voted: That the Lexington Field and Garden Club convey to the Town of Lexington the tract of land known as Hastings Park, conveyed to it by Carlton A. Staples, by, his deed dated Aug. _29, A. D. 1891, and recorded with Middlesex, 0,Dist. Deeds, lib. 20170, fol. 258 provided said Town shall accept the eonveyance pursuant to the vote already passed in Town Meeting .April 5, 1897, under -Article 1� in the tarrant for the .Annual March meeting 1897. Mr. George 0. Davis, the treasurer of the corporation is hereby authorized to execute and deliver such conveyance for the nominal consideration of one dollar.
