MINUTES
FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD
September 29, 2015
4:30 p.m., Selectmen’s Office
Present: Norman Cohen, Alan Fields, Ed Grant, Peter Kelley, Paul Shupe and Alan Wrigley;
Charlotte Rodgers, Director of Human Services; Kristie Demirev, Assistant Director of Youth
and Family Services and Human Services Intern Mao Beckett.
1. Money Available as of 8/31/15: Income $ 60,865
Principal $139,605
2. Human Services:
a. Human Services Report: May 6, 2014 to September 28, 2015. Charlotte Rodgers and
Kristie Demirev reported on the activities of the Human Service Department relating
to families and individuals in need of assistance. During this period twenty families
applied for recreation scholarships. A number of food cards and fuel assistance were
provided. Reasons for turning requests down were discussed, including non-
emergency, repeated assistance and not being able to produce financial documents.
b. Ratify Human Services Request - $2,260 for Back Rent (May 2015) – Approved 6-0
c. Ratify Human Services Request - $900 for Past Due Water/Sewer Bill (Sept. 2015) –
Approved 6-0
3. Other Issues:
a. Discuss the Fund for Lexington Fund and its relationship to other Funds. The
members had a general discussion about the various funds that are available to help
the needy.
4. Next Meeting – January 19, 2016, 4:30 p.m.
5. Approval of the May 5, 2015 minutes. Since the minutes were not included in the packet
they will be submitted for approval at the next meeting.
