HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-03-07-FFLB-min MINUTES FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD March 7, 2017 4:30 p.m., Selectmen’s Office Present: Norman Cohen, Ed Grant, Peter Kelley, and Alan Wrigley; Charlotte Rodgers, Director of Human Services; Kristie Demirev, Assistant Director of Youth and Family Services. Absent: Paul Schupe Alan Fields 1. Money Available as of 01/31/2017: Income $ 28, 426l.05 Principal $ 303,823.76 2. Human Services: a. Human Services Report: December 1, 2016 to February 28, 2017- Charlotte Rodgers and Kristie Demirev reviewed the activity for the period which included a request for fuel assistance and help with back rent. The Board was briefed on how the Human Services reviews requests for assistance and examples were given of requests that have been denied. Following the Board’s last meeting, Kristie Demirev followed up on the discussion held with respect to the need for scholarship funds to aid low- income families seeking to send children to summer camp programs sponsored by the Town. A pilot program was proposed to be administered by the Human Service Department. It was voted 4-0 to allot $10,000 for the pilot program. b. Ratify Human Services Request - $1,000 for relocation expenses for person moving to a more affordable apartment. Approved 4-0 3. Other Issues: a. A request was made for $6,700 to cover the cost for the restoration of the oil painting Margaret Lady Lexington that is permanently placed in Cary Memorial Hall. After discussion, the Board voted 4-0 to reject this since it did not fit the purposes for which the Fund was established. 4. Next Meeting – June 13, 2017, 4:30 p.m. 5.
