HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-01-08-FFLB-min MINUTES FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD January 8, 2013 4:30 p.m., Selectmen’s Office Present: Norman Cohen, George Burnell, Father Colletti, Edmund Grant, Alan Fields and Emily Lavine, Assistant Director for Family Services, Human Services Department. 1. Money Available as of 11/30/12 Income $55,955.48 Principal $141,144.04 It was also pointed out that since 11/15/12 $37,803 has been contributed by 378 contributors. The total cost for mailing/postage for the annual letter mailed to all residents was $4,078.39. 2. Human Services: a. Human Services Report: October 2, 2012 to January 8, 2013. Emily Lavine gave the Human Services report. The Human Services Emergency Checking Account was used to pay utility bills and to make a mortgage payment which was overdue. b. Ratify Poll Vote - Human Services Request for Holiday Gift Cards - $1,115.50 – Ratified 5-0. c. The Human Services Request to pay an emergency fuel bill for $915.68 was raised to $1,224.74 and approved 5-0. 3. Other Issues: a. The request for $15,000 for the Lincoln Park Committee’s bathroom project was discussed. While it was decided that this request was outside of the scope of the Fund’s purpose, it was suggested that once the project is completed, the need for beautification around the structure could be considered. b. It was noted that there is a small Human Services Fund managed by the Trustees of Public Trusts which overlaps with the Fund for Lexington. The Human Services Department could draw on the Human Services Fund as needed. c. A thank you note from a recipient was noted along with a contribution letter requesting that the gift only be used to aid people in need. 4. Next Meeting The next meeting will be on April 9, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. 5. Approval of the October 2, 2012 minutes - Approved 5-0.
