Minutes of Meeting
January 16, 2019

Members Present

Business:
• The chair reported that a quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm.
• Minutes from the meeting of November 7, 2018 were approved. Since the meeting on
November 14, 2018, lacked a quorum, no minutes were created for that date.
• Lorain informed the committee that Gresh Lattimore and Ashley Rooney have shown interest
in joining the committee.
• Lorain announced that she has been working on updating the TCC Facebook page.
• Lorain encouraged the committee members to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day
activities on Monday, January 21.
• Lorain announced that the US Air Force Heritage Band will be performing at Cary Hall on
February 25. The TCC will be expected to print the program and do some PR to advertise the
program, as well as to attend.
• The next meeting will be on January 30, 2019.
Patriots' Day, April 15, 2019:
• Lorain announced that the Patriots' Day Stakeholders meeting will be held on Thursday,
January 31, at 10 am in the Parker Room, Town Offices.
• Lorain distributed a copy of a Stakeholder's Survey that has been distributed online to Patriots'
Day stakeholders to gather ideas about the Parade,perhaps changing the day or time in the
future. The results of the survey will be discussed at the Stakeholders meeting. Lorain
encouraged TCC members to take the survey and return any comments about its contents to
her.
• Bill Mix announced that the Minute Men's re-enactment rehearsal will be on March 31.
• Lorain announced that invitations have been sent to past Parade marching units, inviting them
to participate in this year's Parade.
• Bob Tracey asked if an application had been sent to the Worcester Fire Brigade. Lorain
confirmed that one had been sent.
• Suggestions for other marching units to be invited included the Wells Fargo Stage Coach, the
Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, and the LL Bean Boot. Lorain confirmed that she is corresponding
with the Old Guard about their participation in this year's activities.
• Lorain announced that the Parade Unit application form is now online.
• Lorain announced that she has sent the required reservation letters to the Town, asking the
reserve the Town facilities needed for Patriots' Day activities.
• Sandy Podgorski is already working on compiling the Patriots' Day Schedule of Events.
• Sandy asked the committee if we should create a new poster for this year's Patriots' Day. She
will bring in the poster from last year for the committee to review.
• Lorain announced that Cerise will take care of all VIP communications as well as ordering the
various tickets, wrist bands, etc.
• The Master of Ceremonies for the morning program on the Green will be Glen Bassett. The
Parade Grand Marshall will be Norm Cohen.
• The committee discussed how to best get communications about Patriots' Day events and
recruiting parade ambassadors to all students in the Lexington Public Schools. Kim
recommended sending any requests to the Central Office.
• It was decided that since the parade was cancelled last year, there is no need to order more t-
shirts.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
