HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-01-30-TCC-min Town Celebrations Committee Minutes of Meeting January 30, 2019 Lexington Community Center Members Present Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Suzanne Caton, Kim Coburn, Linda Dixon, Karen Gaughan, Mary Hutton, Paul Jenkins, Gresh Lattimore, Julie Miller, Geetha Padaki Members Not Present Glen Bassett, Wei Ding, Carol Flynn, Cerise Jalelian, Sondra Lucente, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Rita Pandey, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering, Dave Taylor, Bob Tracey, Sam Zales Business: • The chair reported that a quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm. • Minutes from the meeting of January 16, 2019 were approved as amended. • Lorain welcomed Gresh Lattimore to the committee. Lorain also noted that Ashley Rooney has joined the committee. Ashley has volunteered to do PR for the committee. • Kim Coburn showed the committee the flyers made to advertise the US Air Force Heritage Band who will be performing at Cary Hall on February 25. Kim asked for help in distributing the flyers. Anyone who can help should contact Lorain or Sandy Podgorski. • The committee briefly discussed how to keep the TCC Facebook page secure and how to curate the contents. • Kim briefly described the Lexington Community Coalition and passed around a sheet of town information that the Coalition distributes to residents. Lorain will attend the next Coalition meeting to represent the TCC. • Lorain reported that the Town has hired a new Public Information Officer, Sean Dugan. • The next TCC meeting will be on February 13, 2019. Patriots' Day, April 15, 2019: • Lorain encouraged the committee members to attend the Patriots' Day stakeholders meeting on Thursday, January 31, at 10 am in the Parker Room, Town Offices. Responses to the stakeholders survey will be discussed at the meeting. • Linda Dixon made a brief report on survey responses received so far. • Lorain reported that she had contacted the National Park Service at the Minuteman National Park to ask if they are interested in cooperating with the TCC on publicity for the weekend. They are very interested and will set up a meeting with Lorain to discuss further. • Lorain reported that the online marching units application is working out well. Most of the applications she has received have been online. • Lorain reviewed Patriots' Day checklist items. The committee determined that 6 golf carts will be needed this year. Paul Jenkins confirmed that he will obtain radios for the TCC to use for the Parade, as in the past. • Suzanne reported that the sponsorship database has been submitted to the Board of Selectmen for approval. She is in the process of writing letters to sponsors from 2018 who have a credit toward sponsorship in the 2019 parade. Approval of Parade Applications The Committee approved the applications of the following units involving fees: • The Shriners The Committee tabled discussion on the following applications,pending further negotiations: • Middlesex County Volunteers The meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
