HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-04-10-TCC-min Town Celebrations Committee Minutes of Meeting April 10, 2019 Lexington Community Center Members Present Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Suzanne Caton, Wei Ding, Linda Dixon, Carol Flynn, Karen Gaughan, Cerise Jalelian, Paul Jenkins, Gresh Lattimore, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Rita Pandey, Sandy Podgorski, Bob Tracey Members Not Present Glen Bassett, Kim Coburn, Mary Hutton, Geetha Padaki, Ashley Rooney, Sue Stering, Dave Taylor, Sam Zales Guests Florence DelSanto, Jim Shaw Business: • The chair reported that a quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm. • Minutes from the meeting of April 3, 2019 were approved. • The next TCC meeting will be on April 24, 2019. Patriots' Day, April 15, 2019: • Lorain announced that Sue Stering has arranged for Miss Massachusetts to participate in the afternoon parade. She will ride in a car provided by the Eastern Massachusetts Classic Chevy Club. • Florence DelSanto and Jim Shaw informed the committee of the LexMedia plans for covering the parade. As part of the discussion, it was decided that Lorain will give the parade unit media forms to Jim to use in announcing the parade. • David Fitch will announce the parade from the VIP viewing platform. • Lorain reported that the Turkish Library Group requested permission to carry a Turkish flag along with the US flag in the parade. The committee decided not to allow any foreign national flags to be carried in the parade and Lorain will inform the group of the committee decision. • Lorain noted that those committee members who are attending the lunch with the Old Guard at Brookhaven on Saturday should try to car pool because there is not much parking available at Brookhaven. • Lorain announced that the parade stakes will be set up at 3 pm on Saturday. • Lorain announced that there will be a walk-through with the Old Guard at Tower Park at 1 pm on Friday. • Suzanne asked for help to hang the sponsors banner on Monday. Paul Jenkins volunteered to help. She also updated the committee on the latest sponsorship totals. • Sandy announced that distribution of the weekend schedule brochure is complete. • Linda noted that she is still lacking enough Parade Ambassadors to carry the sponsor banners in the parade. She reported that she and the sub-committee have been posting on all the social media and other outlets they know about to try to solicit enough ambassadors. • Bill Mix confirmed that the rain date for the reenactment is Saturday, 4/20, at 5:30 pm. • Cerise handed out reenactment and parade bleachers tickets to the committee. • It was decided that Suzanne will format the final afternoon rosters (numerical, alphabetical, and double-spaced) and send them out via email to the committee. She will also print some and bring them with her on Monday. • Paul Jenkins demonstrated how to use the 2-way radios he has obtained for use at the afternoon parade. They will be handed out on Monday when people pick up their golf carts. • Lorain announced that if the morning parade is cancelled due to rain, the ceremonies will be held in Cary Hall at 9 am.
