HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-04-03-TCC-min Town Celebrations Committee Minutes of Meeting April 3, 2019 Lexington Community Center Members Present Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Suzanne Caton, Kim Coburn, Carol Flynn, Mary Hutton, Paul Jenkins, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Sandy Podgorski, Bob Tracey, Cerise Jalalian, Geetha Padaki, Sue Stering, Karen Gaughan, Glen Bassett, Linda Dixon Members Not Present Sondra Lucente, Rita Pandey, Dave Taylor, Sam Zales, Wei Ding Business: • The chair reported that a quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm. • Minutes from the meeting of March 27, 2019 were approved. • The next TCC meeting will be on April 10, 2019. Patriots' Day, April 15, 2019: • Lorain announced that she did not have much to report. The items that were left to be determined at the last meeting were still to be determined. • Lorain reported that the Old Guard had said they did not see a problem performing at Tower Park so that performance is a go for three pm on Saturday the 13''. She will try and arrange a lunch for them at Brookhaven. • Lorain was working with the antique car enthusiasts to arrange for a car for Miss Massachusetts. • Last year we advertised that One Militia Drive would be available for parade participant parking. It will be available again this year. Lorain will see that it is blocked off so that we can have it available if we need it. But, we will not advertise its availability on the website. • Linda reported that she had not had enough people sign up to be parade ambassadors. She was not worried, because people often sign up at the last minute for this. Kim said she would post an advertisement for more parade ambassadors on the Lexington List and would also post a notice about the Old Guard performance on Saturday. • Suzanne indicated that we had collected about $8,100 in new sponsorship money this year and had about$8,000 in credits from last year. She also reported that the Lexington Fire Fighters Union promised to contribute this year. • Cerise brought numbers for the stakes used to lay-out the parade and also distributed tickets for parking and the reenactment to committee members. • Important report times for Monday are: 0 5 am for the reenactment 0 7 am for the morning parade which steps off at 7:30, followed by the ceremony on the Green o Golf carts need to be picked up by 11 o Sign in begins at 11:30 • Members of the Committee reviewed the layout/roster for the parade. Approval of Parade Applications The Committee authorized the following application that did not involve a fee: Minuteman National Park Memorial Day Linda reported that Edith Flynn expressed her preference for speaking about Pat Flynn's military career in November for Veterans Day.
