Ameting of the historic Districts Commission was held
Tuesday evening, Oct. 15, 1957 at 8:15 P.M. in the Selectmen's
Room on the application of tI": Unitarian Cooperative kiursery
School for a certificate of aporopriateness of a structure
to be erected for the 1- ousin.1; of play equipment for the School
at 7 Harrington Rd. Lexington, vassachusetts, which is within
the Battle Green District. Preent were Commissioners S-Jth,
Parsons , Taylor l D vie and Alternate Howard*
Mr. Dates, read the notice.
Mr. Robert Ihrwell submi-ted a set of plans showing the
structure t . be 8 x 12' , closed in blilding, porch Nri the end,
Building would be 330' ft. frog street. Painted all white with
black shingled roof. Wil„ be dir. ctly in front of Whalen's barn
rjfl be built on. a c =Tete slab, will have no heat or electricity
and no chimney. Photogrpphs we 'e also shown.

A3meeting of the Hiatoric Districts Commission was held Oct.15,
1957 at 8:30 P.M. ( also from 7:30 to 8:00 P.M. ) in the Selectmen's
Room, Present were Messrs.Davis,Smith, Taylor, Parsons and Howard.
The secretary was instructed to write to Mr.Fisher of the
Cary Memorial Building Additions architects, approving the sample
of gray paint to be used on the outside trim.
Mr. Taylor had. secured for the Commissions copies of the Town
By4aws and Mr. Carroll, Town Clerk, also gave the Commission
two Census Books.
It was decided to disapprove the application of Illartints Drug
Store for the erection of the proposed sign on the grounds it
was garish and inappropriate. A long discussion was held re:
proper signs and an attempt will be made to come to a decision
soon. Mr. Davis will continue to try to contact Mr.Jackeon
with regard to taking pictures of the existing signs.
A budget of $500.00 for 1958 was approved.
A lengthy discussion was held on the Hancock Church "Common
Agreement's and Mr. Stevens will be contacted on this.

The application of the Unitarian Nursery School for the
erection of a storage structure was approved.

A meeting was held by the Historic Districts Corraaaission
Yon Tuesday evening, Oct. 15th, 1957 at 7:3 in the Selectmen's
Room on the anplication of Martin's Drug Store for a certificate
of appropriatene a to erect a sign on the store at 1793 Nass.
Ave. Present here Messrs. Parsons, Smith, Taya.or, Davis and
Hoard.
Mr. Murphy, Man. ger of the store , showed up at 8:05 P.N. and
said the owner of the store was Mr.Robert Ridenaan and all that
kr. Murphy knew was they wanted a sign, as per the sketch
submitted. The F reposed sign is to be single face , interior
lighted, plastic. Mr. Davis told ' r. Murphy that while this
was not exactly in our jurisdiction, the sign , as proposed
was too high. The sign is to be erected on the \ ass.Ave.
side of the store, Meeting adjourned at 8: 15 P.M.
