HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-01-29-SLC-min.pdfSustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of January 29, 2026 A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held jointly with the Permanent Building Committee (PBC) on Zoom and at the 201 Bedford St 2nd floor training room. Members Present: Cindy Arens (chair), Andy Joynt, Celis Brisbin, Dan Voss, Kavitha Venkatesan, Kavita Ravi Members Absent: Todd Rhodes, Rick Reibstein, Lin Jensen Staff Present: Maggie Peard The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:05pm Full, detailed meeting minutes can be found with the January 29, 2026 PBC meeting minutes. There were no votes taken by SLC. Review of Dates (SMMA and D+W): PBC needs to confirm at the 2/12/26 meeting which items from the potential VE list should move forward for estimating. The project budget will be confirmed next on 3/26/26. This is the first opportunity to decide to engage VE scope and cost reductions. There will be other opportunities in the future for engaging VE scope and cost reductions. 100% Construction DesignDocuments will be in May 2027. Target Value Design (TVD) update (SMMA): Two items were presented. 1. Roof drainage changes, expected savings ~$574K 2. Different options for Potential Value Engineering (VE) list review: Tonight’s meeting is a chance for the PBC to add or remove items from the potential VE list. Each item was discussed, but nothing marked for removal. Will be taken up at the next meeting. Suggestions were made to improve the spreadsheet with various consequences of scope removal, including higher maintenance and operational costs. Presentation by Mark Sandeen on Solar and Storage benefit comparison for potentially lowering system size: Presentation covered monetary and resilience benefits associated with retaining the full solar and storage design submitted to MSBA: provides an immediate net positive reduction in LHS operating expenses, significant positive net present value over time ($40M+), and also significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to grid projections. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:00 pm.
