Town Wide Survey
Update: Sarah gave an article presentation to the Select Board. The Select Board provided feedback on
the requested funding amount. The board also noted that the survey is becoming too long. There is a
tension between length and thoroughness. The board decision was to put it on the warrant. Marian
discussed the length of past surveys. There is the option of using more closed-ended questions and fixed
alternatives. The problem with those is that you don't get the richness that you would get from open-
ended questions. It is true that the longer it goes on, the more likely you are to lose people, but we still
had a significant number of completed surveys. That shows that people care, were interested in the
survey, and completed it.
The Tom, Min, and Sarah will create a list of all the groups in town they would like to include on the
subcommittee and those they would like to consult throughout the process. The committee reviewed
open meeting laws to ensure the subcommittee follows proper procedures. A reminder was given that if
the subcommittee uses personal emails, it will be subject to the Open Meeting Law.
Vote to Form Subcommittee for Town-Wide Survey
A subcommittee for the creation of a town-wide survey was moved by Michael Schanbacher and
seconded by John Giudice.
