2025 Grant Cycle Report
• The paperwork for Bear Witness has been received.
• The Barbershop performance will, in fact, occur.
• It is suggested that LCA communicate to grantees the importance of notifying LCA of
any changes (content, date, location) in their events.
2026 Grant Cycle
• In future grant guidelines, LCA should clarify that events that have already taken
place will not be considered.
• At the January 2026 LCA meeting, a discussion of event types and criteria that can
best support Lexington Center will be on the agenda.
• Performers who apply for Porchfest support will not receive compensation. However,
LCA may decide to offer a special performance (such as the "Grand Finale"), and
those performers would be compensated from accounts other than the yearly LCA
Grants.
• Applications for events planned for assisted living facilities (which usually have their
own budgets for cultural events) should not take priority.
• There was a brief discussion about whether capital expenses that are directly, or
tangentially, related to artistic events, should be considered for funding. It was
suggested that any such projects might be best funded from different LCA funds,
rather than from the limited pool of grant money.
• An extended review of the 2026 project proposals, based upon the Grant Readers'
report, followed. The results of the discussion are as follows:
■ There were sixty-two applications for FY '26 funding, a larger number than in the
previous cycle.
■ Thirty projects were chosen to receive LCA Grants; they will receive support
ranging from $250 to $750.
■ Twenty-nine projects were not approved for funding.
■ Three projects, because of their nature, were not approved for FY '26 Grants, but
will be supported with general LCA funding.
Lexington Laughs Update and Logistics
• The site (Clarke Middle School), date and time (February 7, 2026, 7:30-9:00 pm) have
been approved.
Four comedians, Tony V, Ethan Printz, Ajay G and Jack Burke, have been booked.
$3,000-$5,000 is available in the budget to support this event.
New business. There was no new business.
Meeting adjourned. 9:11 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
David Hoose, Secretary
