November Meeting Minutes Brett read and approved the November minutes and sent them to the Town Archives. Event Debriefs 2,000 Pound Food Pantry Drive I November 16th Sofia shared that members met at C&W to drop off bags of collected food. Items were sorted into crates and transported to the Lexington Food Pantry. Based on photos from last year, it appears we collected more food this year. Turkey Dinner Delivery I November 26th Brett explained that members met at C&W and loaded into seven cars to deliver Thanksgiving dinners across town. Assigning members to vehicles ahead of time helped prevent anyone from being left out. Only one meal was initially undeliverable but was delivered later that evening. Overall, the event went smoothly with no issues. LexGiving 5K I November 28th (Morning) Carys shared that members met at Lincoln Field to help collect toys from race participants. It was noted that instructions to bring a toy were not clearly communicated to runners. Det. Sowle confirmed the original expectation and hopes for better participation next year. Depot Square Tree Lighting I November 28th (Evening) Sofia reported that members gathered at William Raveis, dressed in costumes, and walked to Depot Square. Members handed out candy canes and bells, took photos with attendees, and joined the singers on stage. Many children especially enjoyed the costumes. Santa encouraged more candy-cane distribution, but most of the candy canes had already been handed out earlier in the evening. Toys for Tots I December 6th Rohan shared that members collected toys outside of CVS in Lexington Center. The event drew a strong community response, with lots of honking, waving, and enthusiasm. Many people were motivated by the cookies handed out as a thank-you. Det Sowle thanked all volunteers and shared that LYC's involvement grows more noticeable each year. Det. Sowle estimated the final count of bags is around 50. Great work! Upcoming Events Valentine's Day Cards Cards will be distributed at the January meeting and collected at the February meeting. Cards will go to the Community Center and local nursing homes, where handwritten messages have a big impact on those who receive them. Eye Glass Cleaning I Date & Time TBD Participation has varied in past years. Last year's turnout was alright, and the goal is to maintain good participation. Patriots Day Parade I Saturday, April 18th, 2025 LYC plans to continue using decorated golf carts and will hand out flags along the parade route. Spring Island Cleanup & Senior Send-Off I Date & Time TBD This year's cleanup will likely involve digging up plants due to new school construction. Seniors are encouraged to participate because last year, no seniors came!
