HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-01-30-LEX250-min.pdfSemiquincentennial Commission (Lexington 250) - Agenda Thursday, January 30, 2025 4:30-6:00 pm — Hybrid Meeting Parker Room, Town Office Building & on Zoom Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) convened in a hybrid meeting in the Parker Room at the Town Office Building and via Zoom video conference on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 4:30 pm by Ms. Barry as allowed by legislation (5.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Present In Person Suzie Barry, Select Board Member, Chair Jane Hundley, Lexington Public Schools Representative Julie O'Leary, Civic Representative Steve Conners, Reenactment Community Representative Cleve Coats, Community Representative Barry Cunha, Business Representative Cerise Jalelian, Town Celebrations Committee Representative Bebe Fallick, Tourism Committee Representative Doug Lucente, Community Representative Captain John Mazerall, Lexington Police Bridger McGraw, Community Representative Steve Conners, Reenactment Community Representative Guest: Steve Cole, Lexington Minute Men Present Remotely Jillian Tung, Music & Arts Representative Melanie Lin, Community Representative Mona Roy, Community Representative, Vice Chair Paul O'Shaughnessy, Historical Organization Representative John Rossi, Commission on Disability Liaison Ashley Rooney, Community Representative Remote Guests Sergeant David Bresnihan, Lexington Police Kristen Potter, JGPR Don Chishlom, Lexington Fire Dave Pinsonneault, Lexington DPW Chris Barry,Captain Lexington Police Alicia McCartin, Lexington Department of Health Melissa Battite, Recreation Director Absent Noah Michelson, Community Representative The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Ms. Barry • Approve minutes -All approved • Vote New Clerk through May 2025 -Jane Hundley • Chronological Walk Thru of Events for April 17-22, 2025 o See the Lex250 Website 0 4/17/25 9:00 Lexington Kick Off Press Conference o April 17, 2025 -Ken Burns Events at Cary Hall and in Concord ■ Questions about the distribution of tickets ■ Need to create a FAQ document for posting on our website ■ To Do: Jane Hundley will communicate LPD about the busses • 4/17/25 Patriots' Day Awards Ceremony o Rachel Dratch will be the MC o Lots of awards will be presented o Cary Hall is reserved • 4/18/25 Friday o Reenactment of Paul Revere's Midnight Ride by Lexington Historical Society ■ Commission members will connect about lighting, crowds, and horse management • 4/19/25 Saturday o Reenactment of the Battle of Lexington ■ Mr. Steve Cole outlined the scene by scene events starting at 5:15 a.m. (Role Call, Civilian Evacuation, Reenactment, Parker's Revenge) ■ Discussion about the start time for the Reenactment that should be published on the Lex250 website. This led to the consideration of the scene by scene aspects of various events ■ Commission members will connect with the Minute Men about details 0 8:00 Road Race ■ Mr. Doug Lucente is working with Lexington Police on start line and other details ■ Sign up opens on February 1, 2025 o USS Lexington Ceremony o DAR Tree Dedication 0 11:00 Battle Green Rededication-Lex250 Commission ■ Talking with the Army -Twilight Ceremony about 55 minutes ■ This will also be the time of the dignitary visit(s) ■ Golden Knights may attend ■ A program will be generated for this event ■ Perhaps 90 minutes total 0 2:00 Parade -Ms. Cerise Jalelian ■ Ms. Suzie Barry shared that there is a possibility of a media partner who will film events, including the parade ■ Lots of questions from folks interested in participating ■ VIP area will be on the Mass Ave side of the Battle Green (Hancock Church) 2 ■ There are still details to be worked out depending on the media partner needs ■ Hoping that the parade can wrap up by 5pm o 7:00 Lexington Bicentennial Band Concert • April 21, 2025 Monday Ms. Jane Hundley 0 12:30 Paul Revere and William Dawes arrive @ the Battle Green 0 1:00 Patriotic Picnic in the Park discussion ■ More details to come ■ Tents, tables, chairs etc • April 22, 2025 Tuesday 11:00 o Naturalization Ceremony on the Green ■ Lunch provided by local civic group • Publicity update o Kristen Potter-JGRP o Working on logistics, media credentials, etc 0 4/17/49 JGPR will be headquartered at Hancock Church o Ms. Ashley Rooney is writing stories for the Lexington Observer • Logistics -Mr. Bridger McGaw o Needs to meet with Lexington Historical Society to work on the media o Currently sourcing bike rack -like barricades o Staging, bleachers o Credentialing- A plan has been established with Concord which is essential for law enforcement. Need to design our own overlay o Suzie is going to ask IMA to pick up this cost o Accessing the parade -Media, in person, jumbotrons will be located at three different locations along the route. Need to look at these areas as party like viewing locations o Discussion about parking at various locations o Communication with businesses is essential o Access for folks with physical disabilities were outlined by Mr. McGaw o Need to add details about ADA access to the website -Hopefully by Feb. 15, 2025 o Mr. John Rossi from Commission on Disabilities invited commission members to attend the next meeting. Dr. Jillian Tung will attend with Ms. Suzie Barry • Invitations -Mr. Doug Lucente o All sent and a few RSVPs have started to trickle in • Housekeeping o Dr. Barry Cunha -update on opening of the new Depot probably around April 5. Colonial Ball -Dr. Cunha will send info to Ms. Ashley Rooney o Lexington View Movies -Mr. Bridger McGaw talked to them and we are thinking about this post -April 22 o What are the Commission members going to wear jackets, shirts, fleece vests -Feb. 12 agenda o Ms. Suzie Barry needs help with banners and special coins- Dr. Cunha volunteered to work with Ms. Barry on this A motion to adjourn was made and approved by a roll call vote at 6:13 p.m. 3 Respectfully Submitted, Jane Hundley
