HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-11-23-SC-min • Lexington School Committee Minutes - November 23, 1987 Page 1 A meeting of the Lexington School Committee was held on Monday, November 23, 1987 at the Clarke Middle School at 7:00 p.m. Present were Clough, Wik, Newman and Koplow. Also present were Zimmerman and Barnes. The Chairman of the School Committee noted that the School Commit- EXECUTIVE SESSION tee continued in Executive Session due to the fact that the meeting Executive Session Hearing Segment was continued until this date. He • said the purpose of the Executive Session would be to deliberate on the grievance, discuss negotiations and discuss items regarding • dismissal proceedings. • The Chairman announced that the School Committee would be return- ing to Public Session at approximately 8:30 p.m. At 9:10 p.m. it was VOTED: to convene in Public Session. Yes, Wik; Yes, Koplow; Yes, Newman; Yes, Clough Mr. Clough welcomed all those in attendance and reviewed the pro- PUBLIC SESSION tocol of the evening. He noted that there would be no public partici- pation. He reminded all in attendance that Mrs. Leader was not par- ticipating in any session dealing with the status of the High School Principal because of prior personal interaction with the Principal in order to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest, she re- moved herself from all delibertions and the decision-making process and would abstain from voting on the issues concerning the High School Principal. At this point, Interim Superintendent Zimmerman recommended the RECOMMENDATION - following. (To be embodied in the Official Minutes. ) DISMISSAL OF DR. WARING Following the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent of Schools, each individual School Committee member made a statement in support of their individual decision regarding the recommended dis- missal of Dr. Waring. It was VOTED: to accept the Superintendent's recommendation for the dis- DISMISSAL VOTE missal of Michael G. Waring as Principal of Lexington High School for reasons stated in the Superintendent's recommenda- tion. Yes, Wik; Yes, Newman; Yes, Koplow; Yes, Clough.
