Present were Wik, Koplow, Newman and Clough. Also present were Zimmerman and Barnes. The Chairman announced that the School Committee would be return- ing to Public Session later. VOTED: to return to Public Session at 8: 02p,m. (Newman, Koplow, Unanimous) (To be CLASSIFIED embodied in the Official Minutes. ) Mr. Barnes and Mr. Maclnnes noted that George H. Kearns, custodian TRIBUTE TO GEORGE at Clarke Middle School who retired on October 30, 1967 died on ;KEARNS November 13, 1987. The School Committee and Administration extended their sympathy to the family .of Mr. Kearns. NEW PERSONNEL- (Wik, Koplow, Unanimous) (To be embodied in the Official CERTIFIED Minutes. ) Lexington School Committee Minutes - November 17, 1997 Page 3 VOTED: to appoint Mr. Peter Johnson, 537 Lowell Street, Lexington as PERMANENT BUILDING the School Committee Representative to the Permanent Building. COMMITTEE REPRE- (Leader, Koplow, Unanimous) SENTATIVE A one-page summary update on the use of technology in the system TECH TEAM REPORT was presented to the School Committee for its information. A written informational report was given to the School Committee FEDERAL AND STATE regarding the status of federal and state grants in the Lexington GRANTS Public Schools. It was agreed to have two School Committee members available at SCHOOL COMMITTEE the Bowman School library on November 31 at 10:00 a.m. to hear what PUBLIC MEETINGS the public had to say regarding teacher negotiations and in turn to allow the School Committee to present its position. It was agreed that Mrs. Wik and Mr. Newman would be in attendance as School Commit- tee representatives. It was VOTED: to reconvene in Executive Session at 9:12 p.m. to discuss mat- ters pertaining to contract negotiations and litigation. Yes, Wik; Yes, Newman; Yes, Leader; Yes, Koplow; Yes, Clough.
