Mr. Clough said the School Committee had reviewed Dr. Plath's SUPERINTENDENT
proposal for the search for the new superintendent. Mr. Clough an- SEARCH
nounced that the School Committee had decided that the compensation
for the new superintendent was expected to be in the $70's but was
negotiatiable depending on experience. He said other issues the
School Committee needed to consider were moving expenses and the high
cost of living in Lexington in relation to salary offered by the
School Committee. Mr. Clough added that the School Committee was in
favor of any affirmative action plan that would generate minority
candidates. Mr. Clough stated that he would sign (on behalf of the
School Committee) a letter of agreement with Dr. Plath regarding con-
suiting expenses. However, the memo of understanding was not complete
enough to release to the public at this moment. He said it would be
released at a future date. No further action was taken.
