A special meeting of the Lexington School Committee was held on
Tuesday, September 8, 1981, at 8:00 p.m. , in the School Administration
Building Conference Room. Present were: Shaw, Swanson, Beck, Gaudet,
and Michelman. Also present were: Drs. Lawson, Pierson, Monderer, and
DiGiammarino.
The School Committee met with several citizens being considered for ADVISORY
appointment to an Advisory Committee to the School Committee which had COMMITTEE
been discussed by the School Committee at its meeting of July 14, 1981. CANDIDATES
Meeting with the School Committee were: Frederick Hayes, 87 Hancock
Street; Carol Hess, 5 Graham Road; Robert Tap, 40 Locust Avenue; Louis
Conrad, 176 Cedar Street; and Donald Giller, 11 Highland Avenue. Invited
but unable to attend, were: Georgia Glick, 21 Eliot Road, and Deborah
Kearney, 44 Harding Road.
After discussion, the prospective members of the Committee decided
to meet as a group on September 21 to discuss their concepts of the charge,
the feasibility of the charge, and report to the School Committee at a
later date.
The School Committee decided against transferring two Cambodian stu- TRANSFER
dents from Harrington School to Fiske School. The Superintendent noted OF
that special education specialists were assigned to look into the student STUDENTS
