C2173 July 24,1975 A regular meeting of the Lexington School Committee was held at the school administration building on Thursday, July 24, 1975 at 10:30 a.m. Present were Messrs. Brown, Rotberg, Wadsworth, M-esd=mes Berchtold and Swanson. Also present were Mr. Maclnnes, Mr. Spiris, and Dr. Fobert. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, it was VOTED: To appoint Kay Dillmore to the position of Principal of the Hancock School. Effective date and salary will be announced shortly. (Berchtold, Brown, Unanimous) PERSONNEL CHANGEES. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, it was VOTED: To appoint Elizabeth A. Murray to the position of Principal of the Franklin School at a salary of $24,000 per year, effective date to be announced. (Berchtold, Brown, Unanimous) . Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, it was VOTED: To accept Personnel Changes (Non-Certificated) as presented. (Berchtold, Brown, Unanimous). Fage 167 July 24, 1975 Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, it was VOTED: That orders be placed with the companies listed below based on INDUSTRIAL ART their low prices meeting specifications and that Item #125 be rejected SUPPLIES as being in the best interest of the Town of Lexington. The Committee discussed the information briefly. (See attachment in final minutes) BUDGET DEVELOPMENT The Committee VOTED: To move to Executive Session at 11:00 a.m. to discuss a personnel matter. (Brown, Wadsworth, Unanimous) The Committee reverted to open session at 12:05 p.m. to take the following action: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, it was ADMINSTRATIVE SALARIES VOTED: To award salary increased of $2500 each to the two administrators for the period July 1, 1975 through June 30, 1976 and set their salaries as follows: Brown, Rotberg, Berchtold, Wadsworth YES, Swanson, NO. It was '- VOTED: To award the Superintendent of Schools a salary increase of $2000 retroactive to February 1, 1975 and set his salary at $41,700. Brown, Rotberg, Unanimous. Page 168 July 24, 1975 Dr. Fobert announced to the School Committee that he has accepted another position with the State of New York as District Superintendent of the Board DR. FOBERT'S of Cooperative Educational Services in Norther Westchester/Putnam Counties. RESIGNATION His resignation as Superintendent of Schools in Lexington will become effective September 12, 1975. Dr. Fobert stated that he has enjoyed his period of leadership in Lexington, a town he judges to be one of the finest communites in which he has lived and worked. He predicted an even better school system in the future, partly because we have a proportionately higher percentage of quality committed and dedicated staff members than any system with which he was acquainted. Mrs. Swanson thanked Dr. Fobert, on behalf of the Town and the School Committee for his 11 1/2 years of dedicated service to the school system. It was VOTED: To accept Dr. Fobert's resignation with regret, effective 9/12/75. (Brown, Rotberg, Unanimous) The School Committee held a discussion concerning the process to be used for the selection of a successor to Dr. Fobert. It was felt that a citizens' committee would be helpful in assisting the School Committee. In addition, a group of citizens and staff would serve as is the usual practice to interview candidates who are the top contenders for the position. It was VOTED: To appoint a 5-6 member citizens' committee to assist the School Committee in its selction of a new Superintendent of Schools.
