August and September minutes were reviewed and approved.
Reservoir Bathhouse
Colin Smith came to discuss the Reservoir Bathhouse. We were excited to see the planned
updates that include an accessible bathhouse at the Lexington Res. We suggested an expansion
of the availability of handicapped parking. Next steps include sending details out to bid for
costs. FY 20 would have the costs for construction.
LPS— Diversity, Equity& Inclusion
Superintendent Julie Hackett came to discuss the suspension disparities and action plan going
forward. She shared some of the steps that she took in anticipation of interviewing for the
position of Superintendent and some of the action steps that she took once she was formally in
that role. These action steps included meeting with the Administrative Council upon her arrival
to begin the planning process to address these community concerns. This team pulled together
a detailed report about the challenges that we face relative to disproportional suspension rates,
particularly for students with disabilities and black students. The Racial Equity Group was also
contacted to provide a training in Restorative Justice. Superintendent Hackett welcomed the
opportunity to work with us and other community members.
