As "historic Districts Commission held a. public hearing Oct. 7, 1958
in the Selectmen' s Roam, Town Office Buildingg on the application
of the
�ry ?Theatre Camara Shop for the erection of signs o the store
at �.793 Waso.�`:�ve . in the Battle Green District. Sitting on the
Commission were Charles G.Davis, Chairman, Dexter A.3nith, Philip B.
Parsons, Edwin Worthen, Jr. and Floyd J.Taylor.
Mr.Davis read the notice.
YrAenier had two sketches which he submitted. His first choice
is a ne0m, AQ which is a now i7po and he feels a verb; attractive
sign?. Ee would, want a zign on the haaa.va. aide and one on the
Depot Sq. side as well.

p2gvtim but be thought the front was smooth, which is what he ,wants.
The lstfering on this is black silhouetted, This sign has a
whitey background ans he thinks has a. metal edge.

on the Depot Sq. side of the atom. Thoze are now begin, used on the
Camara Shop in the Manhattan buildinM. He said if the Commission preferrd
xppxnxxdX he could simply" use "Camera Shop" instead of "Theatre
Camera Shop'.
Hearing adjourned at St 55 P.Y.
MEETING: There was considerable, although vary brief discussion
on the plastic sign, which some dick not lime. Tha sub ect then
came up of neon signs and it was definitely agreed that further
study of this whole question should be made.
It was decided to hold a Commission meeting Wednesday, Oct. li tea
at 8:00 P.M. at Dexter Smith's hour to further consider this.
This meeting adjourned at 8s50 P.M.
N.Stevens then came in for a meeting with the Commission regarding
the Hancock Ghurch case.
Entire meeting adjourned at 11.00 P.M.

The Historic Districts Commission field a public hearing; Oct. 79 1958
in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Buildingg on the application
of Minute-Man publications, Inc. for the erection of signs on they
building at 17 Depot Sy which is in the Battle Green District.
SittIng on they Commission were Charles ( .Davis, Chair anaDexteer A.
Smith, Philip R.Parsons, Edwin B.y,orthen, Jr. and Floyd Waylor.
Yr.Davis Reath they notice. NO loci Mead he wanted to erect
a. sign to be located over the bow wKwo according to plan
submitted, as prepared by Newton-Norman o. Sign,s, 24 BOW St.
W.Newton. The lettering is to be maroon, as per sample submitted
with the Bolan, and background will be the same cream colors now
on the exterior of the building. He also wishes to erect two
identification signs, 24" long and 5" high over the front and back
doors of the bailding. These will be the vamZ2 i.e. , maroon lettering
on the cream background.

Vote; It was unanimously voted to issue a certificate of appropriateness
to Minute-Mara Publicatione, Inc. for the erection of signs and the
Chairman was directed to sign. the Certificate of Appropriateness,
