-Tudaday evening, Sept , 165 1958 in the Qlectmen'8 Roam, Town Office
Building at 7a30 P.M. with the Building Committee of the Simon T.
Robinson Masonic Temple. Sitting on the Commission were Charles
Davis, Chairman, Philip 'arsons, Edwin Worthen, Jr. .and. Associate
Members Charles Colo and Adm.Kend ll deed, the same members who vat
on the original hearing. Five members of the Masonic Building Committee
were present.
The purpose of the meeting was to get around the details of the roofs.
Mr.Brickson, architect, said the suggestion had been made to drop
the line of the roof and he showed the original acietG'has and also 'xhhe
new ones, pointing out the changes. He had carried out the main roof
line and then dropped it, thereby- tieing the wholes thing together.
It was also pointed out that this made the rear mare attractive, by
diving a break on they rear. There was a discussion of the ventilation.
Mr.Borden,Chairman of the Building CommUtee, said he was quite
enthusiastic about the new plans,
Mr.Brickson said it seemed impossible to match h the present slats
shingles on. the roof and they would like to use asphalt shingles of
a dark color, similar in color to the oases now on. He said they
thought something along the lisp of the ones on tht Cary- Memorial
Library would be goat suitable.
A discussion war then, held on the fire escape. The fora Buildi
Inspector thinks definitely there should be a fires escape . r*Erickeon
said the - could use either metal or wood but µftev considerable diccuss,ion
on details, it was fdlt a mental fire escape would be much better.
Tle .fire escape would have a concrete bawe and a :eta trace et type
of c&aeace was preferred.
MrSavis pointed out that this was a. conference wee? W nS and that
the Commission taunted the Committee to be entirely satisfied and that
these tore their plans. The Committee atate"d they Tore moat h3aoo7
with. the new pla,,'m and felt them a decided improvement.
The details, of the Fire escape and a sample of the shingles ara
to be submitted to the C:ammizaivnl before :application.
It was also stated the grounds would be graded and some p"!antird
would be done.
The meeting adjourned at 010 P.1,
