HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-10-15 r October 15, 1957 Amoeting of the historic Districts Commission was held Tuesday evening, Oct. 15, 1957 at 8:15 P.M. in the Selectmen's Room on the application of the Unitarian Coonerative 'Nursery School for a certificate of a p-ropriateness of a structure to os erected for the housin. of play equipment for the ScI:ool at 7 Harrinton Rd. Lexington, Massachusetts, which is within the Battle Green District. Present were Commissioners S, -ith, Parsons , Taylor, U vis and Alternate Howard. Mr. Jirds read the notice. Mr. Robert Harwell submi ted a set of plans showing the structure tc be 8 x 12' , closed in b _ilding porch ch the end, Building would be 3301 ft. fror street. Painted all white with. black shingled roof. Wi. 1 be di:- etly in front of Whalen's barn will be built on a concrete slab, will have no heat or electricity and no chimney. Photogrpphs wee also shown. Meeting adjoualned at 8:30 P.M. Wilhelmina G.Thomas, ....,. Baa Clerk Oct. 15 , 1957 Ameeting of the Hidtoric Districts Commission was held Oct.15, 1957 at 8:30 P.M. ( also from 7:30 to 8:00 P.M. ) in the Selectmen's Room. Present were Messrs.Davis,Smith, Taylor, Parsons and Howard. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr.Fisher of the Cary Memorial Building Additions architects, approving the sample of gray paint to be used on the outside trim. Mr. Taylor had secured for the Commissions copies of the Town By-laws and Mr. Carroll, Town Clerk, also gave the Commission two Census Books. It was decided to disapprove the application of luartin's Drug Store for the erection of the proposed sign on the grounds it was garish and inappropriate. A long discussion was held re: proper signs and an attempt will be made to come to a decision soon. Mr. Davis will continue to try to contact Mr.Jackson with regard to taking pictures of the existing signs. 1* A budget of $500.00 for 1958 was approved. A lengthy discussion was held on the Hancock Church "Common 1 Agreement" and Mr. Stevens will be contacted on this. Meeting adjourned at *:30 P.M. Oct. 1` , 1957 A meeting was held b ,- the Historic Districts Commission on Tuesday evening, Oct. 15th, 1957 at 7:3 in the Selectmen's Room on the a')plication of Martin's Drug Store for a certificate of appropriateness to erect a sign on the store at 1793 Mass. Ave. Present were Messrs. Parsons, Smith, Taylor, Davis and Howard. Mr. Murphy, Mangerof the store showed up at 8:05 P.M. and said the owner of the store was Mr.Robert Rideman and all that Mr. Murphy knew was they wanted a sign, as per the sketch submitted. The rreposed sign die to be single face , interior lighted, plastid. Mr. Davis told Mr. Murphy that while this was not exactly in our jurisdiction, the sign , as proposed was too high.
