A meeting of the Aistorlo Districts Commission was held
Oct. 8, 1957 at 7s 45 P.M, in the Aleotments Room$ following
the postponement of the Hancock Congregational Church
bearing. Present were Vessrs,Davis, Smith, Tsylor,Parsonc
and alternates Howard and Wens. erriaw,
Yr. ',' .R.Greexley asked regarding the "Common" agreement, a
copy of which Prs,Merriam had. It was decided to investigate
this at the Re lstr7 of reds , to ascertain they exact status
of the original Hudson property, now belonging to the Church. ;
It waz decided to hold the nest hearing on the Church's
application on Tuesday> Nov. s th in Estabrook Hall. The
adNertisoment will appear 2n the Oct. 17th issue of the
Vinute Stan.
:~. Davis read a letter from the laxington Historical. Society
saying they agreed with the Commission's decision to move the
pole cn Tavern bane.
It had, come to Mr. Davis' attention that the old t.Brigid's
Church had been torn down, without coning to the Commission
for permission. fir. Davis took this up with Mr. Irwin,
Building inspector, who wrote a letter back that th ough an
oversight, they had given this permission without aGmina to
the Com is ion first.
It was decided also to e P.Ha.rold Stevens to have the Law
changed, so that a quorum for the Commission would be 4
instead of 5, as at present, It was also decided to see if a
paragraph could be added so that the Commission could publish
a set of rules, if they so decided.
It was also decided that Mr. Davis would again contact
Mr-Henry Jackson( if possible before next Tuesday) to See
if he would take pictures of all signs in the three districts
for our records and future guidance.
The bud at was discussed for 1958 and it was decided to
ask for $500.00.
On the subject W signs , Mr.5tevens will. also be consulted
on this again and WMaylor will try to find: out if there
are and rules in the Town ney governing signs.

A meeting of the Historic Districts CemmIssion was held. Tuesday,
October 82 1957 at 7:30 P.M. in the Selectmen's Room, 'down Office
Building On the apPlication for a certiVicate of appropriateness
of"th,( Hancock Congregational Church for an addition to their
existing building. Present were Messrs. Davis, Smith, Taylor,
Parsons and alternate Howard, as well as alternate Mrs. erriam ,
`.£she notice was read by Mr. Davis. Dr.Cliff'ord G. Hurt, Chairman
of the Building Committee, in a Anter submitted to the CQTrdssion,
requested postponement of this hearing for approximately two
weeks as their material is incomplete for presentation as of
this date® This postponement was grantee and the bearing adjourned.
