Presentation: Artis Senior Living w/Carla Koehl and the Director of Marketing Artis has 17 memory care facilities nationally, including one in Reading. They are opening a memory care facility at 430 Concord Avenue in April, 2019. It will have 72 suites in 4 "neighborhoods" and provide 4 levels of care ranging in cost from $8300-$9200. They hope to have a positive relationship with Lexington. They are offering free and public lectures on dementia-related topics in coming months. Staff Reports Melissa Interess-Acting Director of Human Services • Mental Health and Wellness Task Force has meeting on 12/12 to discuss goals for the four groups and make recommendations to be presented in May to larger group. • Holiday lunch on 12/18 will be well attended. Volunteers from COA should arrive at 11:45. • QPR program for seniors will be presented by John Mattleman with focus on identifying depression, isolation, suicidality. Hemali Shah-Senior Services • Hug a Puppy Day on 12/10 from 10AM-12PM • Windowpane shop sale 12/3-21 10AM-2PM and silent auction; $800 in sales so far • Upcoming OWLL courses on Birdwatching, Dvorak, Arthur Miller • Senior Services will partner w/Cary Library and Cooperative Elder Services to plan LGBTQI initiatives Liaison Reports Minuteman Senior Services -none Community Center Advisory Committee-Sandra Shaw-none Transportation-SudhirJain-Transportation report on 3 town survey, idea of a microtransit system purchasing 5-10 buses/vans for 3 towns FCOA-Rich and Ellen. Janice Kennedy announced bookmarks to increase public awareness of FCOA Human Services- none Disability Commission-Bonnie Teitleman-will co-sponsor with SEPAC/SEPTA a film series. "Incuding Samuel"January 17 and "Intelligent Lives"on April 11, both at Lexington Venue, 1794 Mass Avenue and followed by discussion facilitated by Joe Petner. Recreation Committee-Julie Ann, Ellen-none Lexington Housing Authority-none Vision 20/20 Committee-Jyotsna Kakullavarapu- discussed fundraising ideas, meeting dates Housing Partnership- Rich McDonough • Belmont Country Club development proposal passed by Town Meeting with increase in affordable units from 18 to 21. National Development has good reputation. Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee -none Age Friendly/Livable Lexington-John Zhao in first phase of development w/contract w/UMass, will do survey, then review findings to plan action steps late next year.
