HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-09-02-SLC-min Town of Lexington Sustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of September 2, 2014 A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on September 2, 2014 at the Hadley Building. A quorum of four was present. Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair Todd Rhodes, Sheryl Rosner, Dan Voss Members Absent: Rick Reibstein Other Attendees: Joe Pato The meeting was called to order at 7:25 pm. Community Choice Aggregation (M. Sandeen) • Natick MA is in the process of establishing a Community Choice Aggregation program. • The Task Force (M. Sandeen, H. Manz, and P. Chernick) has not meet since the last SLC meeting. Solar Energy Task Force (D. Voss) • The PPA has been signed and the application has been sent to DOER. • The management of the project has transitioned to Shawn Newell, Asst. Dir. Public Facilities, working with Ameresco. • We are waiting for a schedule from Ameresco to begin the installation • Hartwell Avenue opportunity • There are two vendors considering the opportunity (Brightfields Development and American Capital Energy). • As part of the assessment, we need to consider the opportunity cost of displacing current/alternative uses of the site. • There are 12 acres on the site. Options include: ■ 1MW installation—which would not affect current composting activities ■ 3MW installation—which would reduce area for composting Solarize Lexington (M. Sandeen) • The team plans to present the results of the effort to the Selectmen on Monday (9/8): o At least 1.136 MW will be installed on residential roofs. 0 160 residents participated in the program. Climate Action Plan (T. Rhodes, S. Rosner) • The team will provide an updated plan for review at the next meeting.
