HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-05-25-SLC-min Town of Lexington Sustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of May 25, 2016 A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on May 25, 2016 at the Hadley Building. A quorum of five was present. Members Present: Marcia Gens, Dan Voss, Todd Rhodes Members Absent: Rick Reibstein, Mark Sandeen Other Attendees: Anthony Clough, Lisa Fitzgibbons The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm. Solar Task Force (D. Voss) • Hartwell project is moving forward. There expected cost overruns from the startup that may impact the power purchase agreement rate—to a small extent. • Project needs to be in place by January 8, 2017 to secure SRECs. • Plan to be building by July 2016. • Consider a ground breaking in September when kids are back in school. Getting to Net Zero (L. Fitzgibbons) • The team is working on putting the task force together and has already gotten Paul Lucas, Architect, on the team. M. Sandeen has been working to get appropriate representation from Town staff Others: Alan Levin, someone from Capital and Appropriations. • Melissa Tintocolas is interested in supporting the effort. • Maintaining communications with Cambridge to learn from their experience. They worked with Peregrine Consulting (pre-approved by the state). • Cambridge RFPs are on line—as examples Better Buildings (D. Voss) • Hastings will be the first project where there's a good opportunity to build a resilient building. Use it as the focus of the Getting to Net Zero effort. • The opportunity to affect changes to Diamond has passed. Discovery Day Planning (D. Voss) • Change "Climate Change Plan" to "Sustainability Plan" • Create a tri-fold for school buildings • Call Mass Save Lex GWAC Sustainablity Fair (M.
