Meeting Minutes — October 24, 2018
Attendees: Gail Fields, Co-Chair, Lea Gardner Elkin, Co-Chair, Martha Kurland, Betty
Borghesani, Bonnie Tenpas, Charlotte Rodgers, Human Services Director (staff), Anthony
Serio, Assistant Director of Youth & Family Services (staff), Doug Lucente, Board of
Selectman, and Kate Colburn, School Committee.
Gail called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm and everyone introduced themselves.
Minutes of the prior meeting from (September 26, 2018) were accepted.
Charlotte Rodgers and Anthony Serio presented an update on the William James
Interface Referral Implementation. Charlotte explained the intake and on-boarding
process with regards to gathering information about current mental health providers in
Lexington, and announced the official website launch, which will occur on November 15,
2018. The committee ran a demo of Interface and discussed ways to better advertise
links to the Interface website, including: presentations filmed by Lexmedia to the Board
of Selectman and School Committee, links on Town website(s), the idea of a tax insert
for distribution to Lexington community members, and partnerships with
pediatric/medical providers, as well as the Community Coalition for their community
resource map.
Upcoming Programming for Fall:
- Reviewed "Vaping" event and teen support group
- QPR trainings (community and joint School Committee/Board of Selectman)
- Holiday Programming (Beacon Santa, meals, and gift cards)
- Plans for Parent Academy (03/23/19)
Mental Health & Wellness Updates: Discussed CHNA 15 Best Practices in Mental Health
& Wellness grant update, including mid-year report. Reviewed Community Intervention
Team (CCIT) partnership and outreach social work position through the Human Services
Department. Discussed the Mental Health and Wellness Task Force onboarding process
with regards to staff and advisory groups in order to create a sustainable entity to
address and improve goal areas.

Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 28, 2018 at 7pm at the Lexington
Community Center Room 217 (there will be no December meeting).
